If I drove

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

From here to Maine, how long would it take? Would I go thru New York? This is just a "wonder if I could" trip, but DH and I were talking. My daughter wants to see the New England states (and New York), and I've never been to Maine. I know Fall is the best time to go, but does it snow in October since we would have to travel during Fall Break which is in October. I was thinking July, but is it too hot then?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I don't know how long it would take - but come on up!! We don't usually get snow in October - Maybe further north in the mountains but southern maine has nice fall weather. July can be hot - but there's lots of ocean to cool you off. Let us know if you decide to come. It would be cool if we could get snowhermit & crestedchick all together to meet somewhere.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Yup,come on up!!!I can tell you it takes me 12 hours to get to Charlotte,NC,if thats any help.

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Hey Susie
It takes me about 8 hours to the Maine state line, 10 to where I actually go in Waterville.

It took you 10 to get here so figure at least 18 hours and thats with minimal stops for gas..

July is never too hot in Maine, LOL. I used to think so growing up then I moved here, LOL.

Cool Dave, took me a minute to figure out why Westbrook, Me, but I figured it out, lol. I can even follow those directions!!! Thanks for that site and I'll print it out. I really want to make this trip, I'll have to save my coins though and not buy too many plants between now and then.
Poppysue, I wasn't inviting myself, but I would love to visit. AND since I have to go by where CC lives, might as well stop and visit. AND if CC is 12 hours from Charlotte, it's about half way........hmmmmmmmmm.

High Springs, FL(Zone 8b)

Uh, Cala? Where are you driving FROM? All I see is Zone 7 for your location. :)

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh, I love road trips! You're gonna' have so much fun if you get to go! I've always wanted to go to Maine ~ the pictures I've seen of it are beautiful. I'd love to have a fresh-from-the-sea Maine lobster, too! The only fresh lobsters we see around here are us when we come in after working on the fence all day. ;-)

Crossville, TN

Suzie...you KNOW I always wanted to go to MAINE...and you didn't even invite me along!! boo-hoo....It just so happens that I DO have the end of July open!! LOL Jo

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OK, we've got Jo, Lauren and Tig, that fills up my car. Now we need to figure out the route and who all lives along it and who the best cooks are, lol.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I can't see to drive, but I can cook!!!!

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

I'm about mid way, love to have ya'll come by for a visit :)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Thanks Jody, that would be great. Jo has relatives in Baltimore too.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Well if you come through KY you better stop here. lol Don't promise how good the cooking will be but I can feed ya. lol

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Mystic, you are a great cook. DH said so!!!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Cala I knew I liked him. lol

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

hah!...I'm heading to Mystic's then...heck with Maine!!!
(however, I can tell you...I'd like to see Maine. My DD and DW go there every yr, and I usually get left behind. From what I hear Cranberry Isles is the best! and cheap lobster there!!!)

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I may not be able to go, but I am there in spirit. I always wanted to spend some time with those people to figure out how they can sit silently for so long. And like Wingnut, I would so love to eat fresh Maine lobster. Makes me want to go down to the store and buy one of those live ones they steam free.
