Can you post your pictures?

Can you post your pictures form DG to another garden club or web site, if so can you just post the picture or a hyper link?

Windsurffer, do you mean can you post your own pictures in two different websites? Sure! If you're talking about posting someone else's photo from DG to another website, you'll need to check with the member to get permission OR just post a link to DG.

Ok, another question arose when I read GV's reply. If we hyperlink to a photo here in DG and a non member comes to check it out will they see the full sized photo or just the thumbnail?

It depends on where the photo is located. Anybody can view the full images in the journal, tradelist, or plants database feature.

The forums (and the images within) are the only area that are restricted to subscribers only.

GV I was talking about my own picutres,I wouldn't use anyone elses photos. I would also be interested in getting the answer to Zany's question about the thumb nail pitctures.

wind: look above for my answer.

Drat! I was hoping that if they linked in like that they would see the actual photo...hoped to hook them when they then tried to go to another page and got the thumbnail treatment! LOL!

Zany, put 'em in your journal or the Plants Database; then your invited guests will hopefully nose around the rest of the site.

Thanks GV I will have to try that! When I take photos of other peoples beauty I tell them where they can see the pics online. Usually in my webshots but thought this might bring a few more people from my area into DG!

When on other sites and you do post links to a pic in your journal, be sure your journal is marked "Public". Also, be sure to click "External View" before copy/pasting the url. ("External View" will be near the top of each item in your journal and near the bottom of that list of green/blue options like "Add another entry" or "Edit this item".) You need to go to "External View" before copying the url because the url you go to when you view your journal is different than the one others go to when they view it (you can edit your journal while others can't, hence the different urls). "External View" will take you to the url others get. Dave taught me that handy trick when, on another forum, I posted a url for a pic in my journal and did it wrong. :-O! He fixed it for me (haven't told you "Thanks, Dave!" yet, so "Thanks, Dave!" LOL!).

Thankyou for that info Wingnut. I will keep it in mind!

Thanks Wingnut, I had no idea why my picture weren't working.

You're welcome, y'all!

Wingnut I have one question, when you say make sure your journal is marked public do you mean the question that is ask in your preference or do you have to mark it in the journal and if so where can I find it?

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Go to your journal main page (the page you go to when you click the "Journal" link on the rigth side of your screen under where it says "Windsurfer's Menu") and then click on "Privacy". You should make sure that "Yes, I want others to be able to see my journal." is checked. That will let other people see your journal. And you're ready to go! :-)

Thanks again :)

Sure! Anytime, Wind!
