They just said on my news
Its warmer in Alaska than here . I am on the Pa ohio Border. . Sounds like we won;t have corn this summer!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

If you are talking sweet corn, it can be planted up to July 15 and field corn can be planted way into June and still make it. Hang in there, you still have a chance. Biggest problem here is getting it dried out enough to be able to plant.

My DH is working in Valdez, Alaska and said it is lots warmer there than here. I'm in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, and usually by this time, my chard and peas are big and beautiful. And my dahlias? Well, I'll be lucky if they gain momentum for the fair this year! Everything is wet with rain and slow from lack of sun. I got brave and planted morning glory and sunflower today, but I don't know.... may not make it! It is down in the high 30's at night, but at least it isn't frosting or anything. We are up about 500 feet above sea level here at our house and it is colder here than in the cities.

I've about given up on having corn, winter squash or pumpkins this year. I might weaken and plant them later on, as I will have the room in the veggie garden, and I can't stand to see ground unplanted, but it's not looking good so far. I know that some of them will still have enough time to ripen, but I'm feeling discouraged and thinking of just saving the seed 'til next year. I'm afraid it's going to go from cold and snowy right into hot and dry.

Yes, I can tell you we are enjoying beautiful weather here in southcentral Alaska. The last few days it has been in the 70's. We've pulled out our summerware and put the screens up on the windows. My greenhouse is getting pretty warm even with the fan on and the door open. We expect showers mid-week, but it is scheduled to be warm and dry until then. The nights are in the 40's.

I complained a lot about our cold spring, but now I have no room to complain. I can see that my friends down south are having a much tougher time than I had. I sure hope you get to put in your crops and reap the harvests. I'm just glad to have the chance to harden off some plants before we open for business on May 25th.

Gonna hunt you down if you're wrong and beat you with a dandelion.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Really warm here today. We even dug out our summer wear... a couple tank tops and some cut off pants. I think my DH was wandering around in some printed flannel boxer shorts today.. he said they aren't underwear because they have pockets. Summer clothes are a sad sight in Seward. Lots of white legs and arms.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I can't believe we are begging for weather from Alaska! LOL And Weezing, glad you aren't rubbing it in! ROTFL Nice and sunny and <<<40>>> in Ohio this morning! Boooo Hooooo

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

I had a very light frost last night. I don't think it was enough to damage anything...or just a tiny bit if any. Now if I had planted a bunch of impatiens or something I might be in trouble.

I'm sick of the cold weather! This should be the last day though...it better be anyway! Grrrrr

We had light frosts for 2 nights, but a hard frost last night. As I just posted the dracunculas along with everything else in the sun garden are sick looking. The corn was just coming up in the veggie garden. The tomatoes started from seeds inside I wish I had kept inside. The potatoes will be fine, don't know about the peppers. The flowers are the worst, hope they can survive. Tonight it is supposed to frost again!

I am off work today and the sun is out and all is right with my world! I think the worst is over! might even wash the jeep today! YEAH!!!

You go mings and if you have enough time stop by my house. I am at work and the vehicles need a good cleansing. While you're at it, dig up a few things for yourself before tonight's frost gets it all!

Haighr, if you can purchase tobacco row cover, called Remay, it comes in 9ft width and 100ft length. It works and can be folded for storage. It's very light weight and relatively inexpensive. We use it at the green house. here is a photo http://davesgarden.com/showthread/232947.html

Where would be a good place to look for it. It looks just like the answer for me. Thanks for the tip!

Farmer's supply store should have it.

Ok, that was the last of the frost...I promise. From now on there will be no more frost in zones 5 or 6...I'm confident now...lol Well, I was a few weeks ago too and look what happened :( I think this is it though...really. It's very nice out now.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

I didn;t cover last nite. First time. All dot com things said 43-45. And one local weather said 30. HUH! I haven;t done an inspection yet. I need my morning coffee. It just doesn;t feel like it frosted. if it did. I am cooked!

WE had frost 3 nights in a row. I got out early with the water hose and sprayed before the sun come up. Yesterday morning was a heavy frost, when I got back to where I had started, the hostas were frozen again. Will new leaves come when they are cut back?? Every thing looks sick. My DH's potato leaves were black.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

i just transplanted 3 hosta. the blue leaves were white. Don;t know if that was frost or scortched from sun. I cut off all the leaves adn am starting over. Hopefull, it will be okay.
