No. of views is not there

At the top of the forums, where it always showed the @ of views and # of replies, views isn't showing up. Is this a deliberate trimming of code, or did I lose something?

I disabled it temporarily as a part of a long-term test here. I will re-enable it soon (not today).

Maybe it is a good thing. Sometimes when you see a post that has 3 replies and 40 lookers, you wonder if that many people had nothing, or nothing nice to say. LOL

I like to see it, and it is a good indicator as to whether the subject is right or the forum right for the post. But mainly, I wanted to be sure I wasn't losing it, since I have noticed that my clock is now way off and nothing in the owner's manual tells me where to find the battery. Shows how to replace it, mentions a fuse, but not a clue for finding them! I bet I have to take the blasted cover off. Well, that is another thread, thanks Dave.

I think it can hurt if someone sees their thread isn't even getting any views. makes you wonder if you have bad breath or something :)

LOL, y'all! I kind of know what y'all mean, but I like the "# of views" thing. Lots of times I look at something while having coffee, but I'm not fully awake enough to comment. Or don't have the time to ~ after all, it's spring! LOL! But I don't want to miss anything, so I gotta' look. And don't the un-subscribed member's views count as page views? I'll bet there are a lot of them looking, too.

And if a thread I started doesn't get many page views, well, maybe it's not a topic everyone likes ~ I do have kind of warped and strange tastes sometimes. ;-) It's nice to be different! LOL! And like I said before, it IS spring! :-)

Ya'll, I have started at least one thread that never got a single response, although I seem to recall that it was viewed. At least I knew what wasn't of interest and dropped it!

Tee-hee, I've had five with no responses. LOL! I don't know if they got very many page views. The posts seem to be along the same vein as other posts, but that may just be my warped mind telling me so. *grin* It's so fun to have one of those minds that makes yourself feel good ~ you know, one of those that are always on your side instead of out to get you. Ooo, those are scary! ;-)

I'd like to see the # of views as well, even though it was a 0 in some my instances with many views. It should be taken in its right spirit and it is not meant to prick the minds.

I suspect that Dave has disabled it to see if it would make the site more efficient to leave it off. That's just my guess; but if that's why he did it, I can live without knowing how many people have viewed a particular thread. It's nice to still have the number of replies and "skip to first new reply" at the top of each thread.

Yes, it's a speed issue. I will definitely be bringing it back, but not until I make some coding changes to optimize it. The counting of the views was really dragging things down. :(

maybe the page viewed part should have an extra characteristic...if the page views is '0' then it should automtically read "NO ONE CARES YOU WARPED STRANGE GARDENER OF LITTLE VIEWS, YOU" LOL
