Rain,Rain, GO AWAY!!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Aruggggg!!! Just when it was getting where I could walk across my veggie garden without sinking...another monsoon comes along and dumps another 2". At this rate,I'll be planting tomatoes in June!

I'm getting frantic here folks.I've never had to wait this long to get my garden out.Usually I pride myself in the first cherry tomatoes by June 1.This year,I'll be lucky to get any at all.I should have had stuff planted a month ago,but every time I even think about it,here comes another 'chicken choker'.Someone said that we are about 15 inches above normal for rainfall.Personally,I think I got more than that.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

We got some rain here to but only a little.... it has been sunny and warm here for abut a month, and pretty dry. :) I'm happy for our geographic location, because here weather is everyday a little different.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Poor Mel! =[ We have been getting our share here too! This week is nothing but more rain n below normal temps!
Our water levels were down here-so i guess its a "good thing". But to this gardener-Ive had enough for now.
I guess you will have my growing season! ;]
Good luck Mel-I hope your weather clears up for ya'll!

Himrod, NY(Zone 6a)

Melody, so sorry, I just posted being so thankful for the rain! We are late in our planting also, but if it had not rained there would have been no reason to plant. Hope the sun shines soon on you.

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

I'm gathering animals...2 X 2!! "T" :)

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Waaaah, it was my rain, wish it had made it all the way to Texas!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Mel, I'm in the same (proverbial) boat as you - and I'm definitely ready for some drier weather!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I feel for you folks without...but I'm sitting here looking at the old john-boat,trying to figure how to hook a 3 point hitch to it.I just know that I could plow with it if I could.

My grass is so tall, that I'll have to mow all 4 acres twice and rake it between, just to make it presentable. At least,it will give me some compost fixins.

I dearly wish that I could send you some of the 'extra'.We've even got a few roads closed because of the water.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have been listening to the rain pouring down for the last two hours and figured I'd see if anyone else was getting dumped on and getting tired of it. Wednesday is supposed to be our one rain free day this week! If only we could send some of this rain to you that need it, we surely would! I've got a sail boat sitting in my driveway.

If it gets too bad, I'll just have to load up the family and sail to a dryer location. Anyone need a lift? Seriously, I hate the weather, but if I don't joke about it, it might drive me nuts.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Melody, don't wish it away! I think I am growing gills and a fin. How stupid would I look if it were dry out? LOL I am so sick of rain, I cannot say how sick I am! It started pouring around nine o'clock last night and it is still coming down! My puddles have puddles! I cannot remember the last time we got so much rain. Seems like we get three days of rain and one day of sun. Geeze!

Wapakoneta, OH(Zone 5b)

I am with all of you who are sick of the rain. When we need it, we probably won't get any. I was able to get part of my flowerbeds planted but still have a ways to go. It has pretty well rained all day today and of course yesterday. Supposed to be dry on Wed. but the ground will be so soaked that it will take more than one dry day to be able to get into gardens. My beds are all slightly raised and that helps a little.

JUST HOPING AND WISHING FOR SOME S U N S H I N E !!!!

I think I'm leaning toward the Ark idea. We are in a drought in NJ and it seems for the past 3-4 weeks we haven't had enough dry days between the rain. Rained all day yesterday, today and the forcast for tomorrow is... RAIN. I feel very bad for my folks - they had to have their septic replaced -their yard is a big mud pie.

Humansville, MO(Zone 6a)

all you got was two inches feel lucky had 4+ yesterday gauge was running over by 2 have 4in gauge finally quite about 10 last night have over 8in in the last week
i still have brussel sprouts to get in let alone tomatoes
should be planting peppers this next week and all the rest of the garden but our dirt hasn't got to 50* yet either where is the heat you know we will be crying for rain in a month or so but do wish we could send this rain where needed

Plymouth, PA(Zone 5b)

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

I think we need to take this to the Prayer Request forum and ask for a little mercy from above!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Here I sit with all the dry dirt and water hoses stretched from here to yonder and back and all of you have all the rain. Parts of Georgia has been getting rain but it has been north of here. We did get a small shower this afternoon. The weather pattern has been rain in Texas and it moves north east right in to north Alabama, Tennesee, and north Georgia. Then there's another pattern that starts in Tennessee and moves south east down in north Alabama and north Georgia and then never reaches here. Well it's good we have the weather to complain about.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I'm with everyone else here. I've had enough rain!!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It rained all day today but if that wasn't bad enough it's now snowing out. We could get several inches in the higher elevations and I live at a high elevation. I couldn't believe it when I heard the weather last night and was hoping they were wrong.I'm so depressed. I don't think I'll ever get my gardens planted this year.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

It started here Saturday nite around 2 and has not quit ,cept for a few hours. And COLD! my babydog skidded in the yard this monring on her way to tinkle. It freaked her ! poor creature! So glad I don;t have naturally curly hair!...ZZZZING!!!!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Awwww Snowhermit!! It's snowing there? You poor thing! It can't last long. It's MAY for crying out loud!! It's only been rain here - and it poured all day long.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Yup Poppy, The trip to Maine with GS is cancelled for tomorrow. He was so dissapointed. He wanted to catch a shark in the ocean. LOL. Poor little guy had his fishing pole all ready.Supposed to snow tomorrow too. :(

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

That's too bad. You'll have to bring GS up here to catch blue fish and stripers this summer. Those blues sure can put up a fight. He'll love it!

Bayonne, NJ(Zone 6a)

OMG, snow???????????????????
Thank God for the rain!
Just me here in NJ Quacking along like everyone else. Tomato planting...........sure..........maybe in June more like July. Glad I got my first and only Siberian. Last weeks rain killed the puppy. Most expensive large cherry tomato I ever had 2.75. No, I have not tasted it yet waiting for the most wonderful smoked salmon to have with it, tomorrow while basking in the sun I trust ;-)

Anyone have any hybrid tomatoes they'd like to trade esp. San Marano or any Polish, German types?

I have summer bulbs from the Bleek offer left over. May have some annuals from Mischeals (see my addition to the garden watchdog.) I know my hostas need dividing.
Anyone I owe stuff too will be OUT I PROMISE this week before I do another thing! Than I will make a list of everything I have to offer.

I'm feeling better in spite of the rain. Just a little dopey from the meds but this too shall pass.

Hey Lafayette NJ what you got growing in your garden. Sure hope this rain doesn't kill anymore of my stuff. OK gotta run and batten down the hatches.

Blankets go out and I don't care what the neighbors think. TEE HEE
Have a dry night
napping in new jersey
Carol
PS Cecelia, how are we doing on the trade. Couldn't get the hydrangea ready inbetween rain-drops but I will as soon as I get my other trades out LMK what you want OK

Carol-I was driving home from work thinking it was great that it didn't rain today when it started pouring. It's stopped now. The only things in my garden are perennial. Most of my bulbs did well, clematis are growing but no buds yet. The hostas, hydrangeas and peony are doing very well. Irises are coming up as well as a variety of "stuff". I think it's too early to see any growth from my hibiscus. Sweet peas seem to have cropped up everywhere. I have only planted three blueberry bushes in containers. I have to get some flats of plants for my containers - I keep overlooking them. I need to get the tomato bed ready so hopefully I can get them in Memorial Day weekend.

Wapakoneta, OH(Zone 5b)

Guess What!! It quit raining. The sun shone all day.
I got a couple of plants in but the ground is too soaked to do much more. At least it didn't snow here.
I took a cabinet sewing machine that I bough at an auction for $3., took the machine out, took off the lid, painted the rest of the cabinet. The hole left where the machine was, was just the right size for one planter that I had on hand. I planted Wave Petunias in it. I hope it does well. Should be really pretty this summer. I sat it out in my back flower bed.

My Irises are getting ready to bloom along with some volunteer columbines. My hedge rose bushes have buds on them. I always give my first "rose of the season" to an elderly neighbor lady and also what I call the "last rose of summer". These bushes are everbloomers,so bloom all summer. She enjoys this little tradition and I am always looking anxiously for that first rose to bloom.

Since I have a lot of prennials my garden looks pretty good right now. Hoping for a good sunshiny day tomorrow. Now if my body would cooperate, Iwould have it made.

Hope everyone gets dried out soon!!!!

Bobbi
