What did you get for Mother's Day??

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

So do tell!! What kind of goodies did you get for Mother's Day?? I know that flowers and plants are like in the top 10 items that are usually given to Mom's, and I just thought ya'll might want to bragg a little on what all you got. My kids are still young, so therefore they don't buy for me just yet, but the handmade cards from school are the sweetest things I could ever hope for.
Happy Mother's Day ya'll!!
*Ü* Hope it was a good one!!

Oh, Mollybee, keep them in a safe place! You will smile and weep over them a hundred times, and someday the older, cooler kids will ask why you don't throw them away, and you will draw back in horror. Then they will have their own little children, who will bring them handmade cards from school, and you can pull out the ones made by the kids' parents. It is so much fun and so very sweet. Hope you had a very happy day. I gardened! (surprise)

Let's see, where to start...My oldest son(7) made me a bookmark from pressed flowers, paper & clear contact paper at 4-H meeting (it is in the bible now). At school he painted a terra cotta pot and planted in it is a very pretty red annual flower, a marigold seedling & a sunflower seedling; They also made bird feeders out of toast brushed with egg whites & dipped in seed. Both boys (the other is 4) cleaned their room today (it took 3 hours). My husband always gets me something for mothers day as well...this year it is a bentwood settee. Woven seats & backs that are padded (I love it!). I also get to go the the nursery & pick out some plants...been raining all day so I will do that Tuesday or Wednesday.

I hope everyone had a very special Mother's Day! I know I did!

I really, really got spoiled this Mother's Day. My mom got me a Jackmanii Clematis, My husband got me a new Potting table and a wooden trunk for the paio to keep
my garden tools and gardening shoe in. I guess he got tired of seeing them. A new orchid from my middle daughter, a book on mothers that my youngest daughter had written memories and feelings about me in. My oldest daughter got me new decorating plates for my kitchen in a Italian design and wax fruit candles to dispay with them. My husband also got me a dozen chocolate covered strawberry's. I know that I really got spolied rotten., But I loved every minute of it. I want to add to those mothers that have small children and received cards that they made. Those are more precious then anything that can be bought. When my son died three years ago, I found a card that he had made for me when he was in the fourth grade. It is one of my most treasured posessions now.

Blum, TX(Zone 8a)

My son gave me a bear musical carousel collector avon item. Also My Dh has been scouting around (on the sly) for a chair I can use outside without getting stuck. Well, he took me to see one and I came home with it. It will roll over obstacles my other one would balk at. I call it my tank. Gave it a good try-out out in he boonies, through weeds ,over rocks. even through little puddles,I have enough sense to know it can't be expected to do everything, but I feel so much more secure now, and Poor DH won't be nearly as worried about me when he's not here.I cant think of a more perfect day than yesterday. Hope all of you had one equel to mine, in your own way! God Bless!

jerodsmom, I want to hug you. We are members of the same club, for which there was a website named "My Mom is a Survivor", for mothers who have lost children. I so heartily agree about those treasures. Laura left me with many, and they are indeed my most valued possessions. I can't always bear to see them and open up that area of tender emotion, even after 23 years, but I take comfort in knowing I have them. Even her clothes, I packed away, and had hoped to make a quilt with Holly Hobbie forms doing the things she liked to do, dressed in her clothes and each square featuring a badge she earned doing that activity in Girl Scouts. I will probably never get the quilt made now, my fingers aren't that nimble, but I still hug the clothes if I see them. If she ever touched an item, it is sacred!

My dear sweet daughter just gave my my Mother's Day present. She had to get her daddy to deliver it in his truck. It's a dump-wagon for the lawn tractor!! Wow, I really did good this year, no more dragging heavy stuff around.
