Subscription help

Please see my next post.

I didn't want to put this on the first post, because I didn't want the person whom I'm trying to subscribe to see it. I hope you understand. Unsubscribed members can only see the first post right? I hope so.

I finally found someone to subscribe, and pay forward the kindness that was bestowed upon me by my still unknown garden angel. But, I can't find the place to buy a gift subscription. Please help! I'd like to do it tonight too if I can.

Thanks,
Joan

Joan,

I'm trying to remember how I did this for my sister about a month ago. I think that I actually logged out of DGs (knowing what my password was to log back in). Not a big deal if you don't know your password cuz with just your email address, Dave will forward it to you.

Then, accessing DGs as a "newbie" since I had logged out of the site, I saw some of the options we normally don't see. I looked for the subscription stuff. There were two options; a trial membership and then a full year subscription. I chose and then actually had to pick an alias name for my sister since I was establishing her membership ~ not too tough since she already has one.

Had my credit card ready and it was pretty easy from there. I think the weirdest part is logging out of DGs since we all normally have access immediately. Somehow, Dave has programmed our IP addresses (I think) so that we jump right in when using the same computer or another PC from which we've accessed the site previously.

Good luck! I know that when I wanted to subscribe my sister, I wanted to do it right then and there!

Thanks Morph, I'll try that.

Thanks, Morph, I couldn't have explained it better myself.

The only thing is, however, that you do not have to logout in order to do this. Just go to this page: https://davesgarden.com/subscribe/

In the first field, type in the username of the member who will be the recipient of the subscription. After that it's normal.

Then, a short mail will be sent to the recipient, simply stating that the subscription was purchased, and not much else.

A longer E-mail will be sent to you, as the purchaser, that you can save as a reciept for the transaction.

Let me know if you need any help with this!

I'll be up for a little while longer if you run into any questions...

I think I got it done! Yay! I'm so happy that I found someone to pay forward the kindness that was bestowed upon me last year.

I'm going to go to the welcome forum now and post a welcome. Please follow me there to welcome lupinelover.

Will do! Glad you had success! I sent another "reminder" to my sister, meerkatlvr, to try and get her just browsing the site! A hard sell she's been even though she's a garden enthusiast. She's just been so busy that she hasn't taken the time to poke around the site... I need some bait here ;)

Morph, tell her someone left her a post and we will. LOL

Morph - post a welcome in the welcome forum and tell her that she HAS to go and respond. That's kind of what I did, and I'm hoping it works and hooks her.

Did do when I first bought her a subscription. Will do again as a reminder ~ thanks so much!!!

Thanks, Joan, for posting to her welcome thread. I hope my reminder via email with the direct link might get her to the site again. Have a great Friday & weekend!

Thank you Morph and Dave for helping me out.

I'm looking forward to meeting your sister too Morph. Does her screen name mean that she's a cat lover? I too, am a cat lover, and I think her and I would hit it off. I'm looking forward to meeting her.
