I just took a tour of the yard since we had another gully-washer of a rainstorm this afternoon. I found tons of volunteer marigolds coming up, along with tomatoes, four o'clocks, and other UGO (unidentified growing objects). Happy, happy !!! Especially since I haven't planted a thing yet in the big garden and would like to get it started. So nature did part of it for me.
Of course, I saw volunteer pokeweed and bindweed, too - but just like with real life, you take the bad with the good, right?!
Surprise Volunteers in the Garden
It's always nice when you receive a present in the garden!
Don't have the problem with Pokeweed here but bindweed is the bane of my gardening existance (along with practically everything else LOL)
I hope the others don't stay UGO's for long.
Wonderful fun, huh GL? I have scads of marigolds all over the back yard from that 9 inch monsoon we had about 3 weeks ago!!

Doing the Happy Dance with you~~~~
I'm amazed at my Foxgloves, I planted them from seed and when they came up last year I thought they were weeds but left them just in case, lol.
They bloomed and the parent plant never completely died, stayed green all Winter and it's coming back out and blooming this year, go figure, lol.
I have so many sand briers it's pittyful but I love to zap them with spray, lol.
Happy Gardening!!!
Every year I get volunteer violas in my south bed. When they are large enough to transplant, I move them to the front of the bed and they make a lovely border until the first hard freeze of fall. Love those volunteers!
Could sand briars be eliminated with some other method than spray? It seems such a shame to cripple Mother Nature and interfere with so much of her cycle with chemicals.
OOP! There goes another Tomato plant. What a hail storm we had thurs night.Scared the little dogs, upon the bed with us. You know to listen to them when they get excited! I was so afraid of a tornado, but I just lay real still and prayed for protection.
