Important message about DG e-mail messages

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

The email system at DG is designed to allow us to connect with other members and converse "offline" - and it's EXTREMELY handy. I wouldn't have met some DG folks if they hadn't emailed me to strike up a conversation :)

But occasionally a member tells us that they have been emailed by another (usually new and not subscribed) member, offering plants or seeds (or other stuff) for sale. These solicitations usually come out of the blue - you've probably never heard of this person before, and it may not even be clear why they chose to send you a message.

If you have (or ever do) receive such a message, please feel free to forward the message to the DG helpdesk, where someone can look into it.

Am I just naive beyond belief? (I have no idea how to forward a message to the DG helpdesk!) I have received email from non-subscribed members asking about something I posted, but I just assumed they were interested in whatever I posted about. Should I have forwarded it to Dave?

Aimee, many nonsubscribed (and subscribed) members email each other all the time about seeds or plants for trade, etc. - that's what the system is designed for.

Unfortunately, a (very) few members have tried to use the email system to "advertise" their plants or seeds they have for sale. Since they have to do email people one a at a time, it's a pretty slow and painful way to "spam" potential customers, but a few do attempt it.

You can copy any such email you received, including the info with their user name, then open up a message form directed to the helpdesk, paste the message in there, and send it that way.

Thanks, go-vols. Actually, those who have contacted me have wanted to trade for something I had, and it wasn't a problem. But it's nice to have the information if I need it.
Now if only I would remember it that long.

Okie Dokie. I got one today that I thought was a little strange. I'll forward it.

Is there a place on this site that links to the helpdesk? I can't find it.

Joan, at the bottom of all pages of DG is a "Contact Us" link - it will take you to a web form you can paste your message into.
