Welcome - you will soon feel at home :-)
hi there Delph', make yourself at home your among friends here.
Hello and Welcome!
I'm your neighbor from the Texas Gulf Coast, where the humidity gets so high, you practically need gills to breathe!!
Hope you enjoy your stay here. It's a happy place to be.
Paula
Where's Justmelisa? She's a fellow Louisianian (is that right?), and she'll be thrilled to have someone else from her state here at DG. I guarantee you'll get a warm welcome from her as soon as she spots this!!!!!
HI DELPH!!!!, You live just down the road from me!!!! this is so nice! I live in Thibodaux...oh boy!!! Lisa
I knew you'd find this thread, JML!!!!
Hi Lisa - I'm in New Orleans! What's up with the mosquitos this year? - there were clouds of them yesterday in the MORNING and its only April! I'll be buying citronella wholesale pretty soon.
I know delph, same problem here! LARGE ones..they bite before they land. We were outside last night and almost had to go in for a blood transfusion! LOL! Do you know that was one of the Saints main concern about having practice here? They made the city of Thibodaux spray, I think it feed those little buggers and not killed 'em. My poor animals. Lisa
Welcome Delphiniumdiva! You're going to love this garden! Enjoy!
Hi from the GA coast and welcome to Dave's Garden! :)
Terri

Hello from Memphis Tennessee where it is also already in the 80's. We can't match the humidity of NOLA but come pretty darned close. While I haven't been in DG long, think I can assure you that it's a great place. Enjoy
Howdy Delph, from the West Coast of good ole USA !! I am not finding anyone in my area around here, most of them are up north. Enjoy our great forum, it's a lively bunch of great gardeners.
Donna
Hi all... I am another new member as a result of a google search... for Catalpa trees. Great site! I look forward to spending lots of time here. Just moved into a home on 5 acres and am looking to garden! Nice to see others from Florida, too. Course, you northerners may be Floridians in a few years. We'll leave the light on for ya'. Nice warm group here.

Hi there, wayman and welcome to DG! Your home sounds just wonderful! I'm 25-30 miles south of Savannah. Where is Venice? :)
Terri
Hi Pete2 (Terri) Venice is south of Sarasota, which is south of Tampa... about middle of state, basically, but on the bay side.
Hi Wayman
Welcome to DG! I'm about 1.5 hr north of you.
Welcome to DG, Wayman!
Thanks for your welcome, Tim and go_vols!
Tim... Yes, I am just south of you. I am currently looking for three plants, which I am having trouble locating locally, but have not given up: navel orange, strawberries (How hard can this be?) and rain lily (At least, that's what I call it.)
Pat
We purchased strawberry plants from Lowes and Home Depot. I believe I also purchased a pack of 5 bulbs of rain lily from Lowes, but not sure if they still have them. I'll try to scan a pic of the rain lily from the package for you when I have time.
Tim...
Thanks. I didn't even think about Lowe's. Home Depot had nothing I was looking for.
By the way, I just got my current issue of Consumer's Reports. The have a special article on Flowering Shrubs, and they compare large chain store as well as local supply.

Hi Trish...
I know it is a big state, but we aren't THAT far apart! Thanks for the welcome. I'm trying to find some plants I can share. Guess Pepper Trees would be out, huh? Got plenty of them.

Go to the above site for all you ever wanted to know about Brazilian Pepper trees(Schinus terebinthifolius). The site describes it so: "is one of the most aggressive of the invasive nonindigenous plants in Florida. It is invading aquatic and terrestrial habitats, greatly reducing the quality of native biotic communities in the state. Brazilian pepper is from South America, and was probably introduced as an ornamental in the mid 1800s. Since it is not particularly cold-hardy, the tree occurs mostly in southern Florida."
The site is from the University of Florida, and even has pictures!
So, how many would you like me to send you? : )
Pat
Greetings from humid Ohio, Delph! Glad to have you here! Two of my four delphinium (new last year) are growing like gangbusters here and I'm excited to see them at it! :o)
And hello from Oregon where it is still almost winter! Brrr. I just came in from digging out the sod to make a new flower bed. Enjoy some warmth for me. Isn't this a great place? The friendliest people on the planet are at Dave's. I am addicted.
