The "Crazy Gardener" is back

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

I'm back from my trip to Maine. Ya'll will laugh at me. I HAD to go to a couple of the nurseries that I always go to when I'm there.

Well...I went, and got rained on, snowed on, stepped over little piles of snow, and got pelted with hail and still kept picking out plants, LOL. My mother, sister and I were the only crazy people out, but I just had to go and couldn't let the weather stop me because I only had a few days up there.

My sister, said she needs support for her addiction, LOL. I told her she needs to get on line and come to DG where there is plenty of support to be found, hehehe.

I brought home about 100 plants!!! Sheeesh, you know you're bad when you bring home that many plants and don't even have a place to put them. Guess I'd better get out there and start digging up more lawn, LOL.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I think maybe you went a little overboard. Have fun planting them all and the best part is next spring when they have all settled in.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Hey Jody! Welcome home! I am glad you had a nice trip. Coffee tomorrow? I'll try to catch you in between packing boxs, like I am doing now!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Nice to see you back in our neck of the woods again! Know what you mean about having to dig up more lawn, LOL. We've decided to do lasagna beds from here on in. Our bodies can't keep up with our addiction. ;)

We were at a friend's last night and when I went into their bathroom I saw a big pile of newspapers by their washing machine. Of course, I had to ask what he was going to do with them. He said, "Oh, I'm sorry, those are already spoken for." He paused then pointed at Howie! :) Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi Jody - welcome back!!! As for your new plants - what can I say!! I've been there and done that. All 250 of them travelling around the country with me and nowhere to put them..lol!! You had great fun and that's all that matters and it seems that nothing got in your way at all!! We too are making lasagna beds and like Kimberly get quite carried away when we find an extra stash of newspapers somewhere!! :-)

How does that phrase go ... neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor hail ... shall keep us from buying more plants !~!

Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

Buying plants from greenhouses and the like is someone's job security. We can't let these people go hungry. I say keep everyone employed and buy to your heart's content.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

hehehehe, what rationalizations we use. Jody, I'm so glad you made it home safe and sound - and I'm glad you bought so many plants. That way, when I go a little overboard in buying plants and DH raises an eyebrow, I have someone to point to and say well, I'm not NEARLY as bad as Jody!!!!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

:o)))))).....sounds like you had a mighty fine time there, Jody! Only 100?????
Someone needs to take the gal's Temp!!!!

Thanks for the welcome home everyone!

Well I did manage to get about 25 of them planted yesterday. But now I've got to either get out the sod cutter or the newspaper. And figure out what part of the lawn DH won't miss much, hehehe.

Ya'll have great rasionalizations, :) job security, hehehe, I like that. Will have to remember to tell my DH that if he says anything about my little plant excursion, LOL.

Go ahead Terry, show him my post, maybe you can get away with about 80 easily, hehehe.

Yep Eyes, only 100, I'm afraid I couldn't fit too many more in the car ;)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Welcome home...and next trip....get a bigger car!

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

We are all like one great big giant insane asylum and don't we have fun???? Instead of the looney bin I guess we could be called the Garden Bin!!!! We wpi;d all know what that meant. ha! Glad you made it home ok Jody and congrats on all the new babies. When one of us gets new plants it may mean more varieties for the rest of us eventuallly so we can all rejoice. Just one very big happy family. LOL

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I have a pickup just for reasons like this. I can't go anywhere without filling the back with something for my gardens or pastures. I get to go to Portland Oregon about the middle of the month and plan on hitting several nurseries then. (DH must stay home and work so he doesn't know what I might bring home!) Plotting errr I mean planning on adding to my flowerbeds as well as my trees and shrubs. A whole pickup load too! Lani

Elizabethton (Stoney, TN(Zone 6b)

Give me the names of your favorite nurseries in Portland. I'm headed over there next month for a wedding. Can't wait!

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

You'll have to ask Poppysue that one GL, she should know a few. I go much further North than that.
