I have been adding some plants to the database as I get time. Should the cacti be separate from the other succulents? I have quite a few different cacti,indoor and outdoor. This is great! As I add to this list I am updating my own list.

I have a question/suggestion about the plant database. Is it possible to reconfigure something so that if a person is adding a plant to their journal they can hit a button and have the plant also added to the database? It can be so time consuming to add plants and update plants in the journal that adding plants to the database, for me anyway, is second-tier important (me first! me first!). I am obviously completely uneducated in what it would take to make that work but it might get more plants more quickly into the database. Thanks Dave!

To follow Karenmarie, my vote would be that you'd be able to link to the plants databse from your personal journal instead of the other way around. That way eventually we'd have standardization among the common plants in our personal journals.

I'm with go_vols on that. The Plants Database is more of a formal inventory of plants, while the journal is an "anything goes" format.

Folks don't want structure in the journal, and in fact, I designed the journal to be so fluid and extensible that it is almost chaotic (which is why I LOVE my journal).

When adding a plant to the Plants DB out of my journal, I always like to kind of start over with the writings, and I re-format my notes to make a good written description, and, of course, I re-upload the images. I may make a better way to do this after my plants start flowering and I start adding a lot more entries into the plants db.

Back to go_vols' statement: linking from the Plants DB to the journal is a fantastic idea. I'll play around and see what I can come up with.
