where are most memebers from?

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I would like to know if there is a hot spot where most members live?

I'm enquiring in case I visit the US next spring and could visit a load of people.

Mark

Rapid City, SD(Zone 5b)

Seems to me like lots of people live in Tennesee...sniff. I have an extra room here in Rapid City AND one of the dads in my son's boy scout troop studies bats for a living - how's that for a carrot :)

P.S. there aren't many flowers here in spring....still snowing

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Wow, well that is an eye opener. I wouldn't have believed that washington state has 83 members, and Tennesse 87....
hmmmmm, I think the washingtonians are snoozing....Where as the folks from tennesse are more active.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

If there are that many in California they must be mostly non subscribing members :~( Because I only see posts from a couple of them and those are few are a long way from me!

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

now then where do I fancy going to?

too many possibilites too little time.

Mark

thanks Dave.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

But we have 22 or more subscribed members here in the Lone Star State!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

HMMM...wonder if Dave could add a brouse member list by state....might make a lot of people change their vacation routes!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL.....zany, zany, zany....come on back east to Texas for a bit!! I'll even let ya ride Snockers!!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Geeze, now I gotta hunt down the third person in North Dakota. I thought there were only two of us.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

mark, I'll make it easy for you, just come to GA!!!!

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

thanks tiG.

I am thinking of a US trip this time next year to see the wild flowers especially the ones I saw for miles along the freeways in Texas. I would like to see the Lady Bird center again.

Mark

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Good grief, you have seen the Wildflower Center in Austin? I live 20 or so miles from Austin, and I have never managed to go there. You are wise to route your trip through Texas, especially central and East Texas. The wildflowers are outstanding as you said, for miles along the freeways, and when you get off onto some of the roads in the hillcountry it is even better. Don't miss Wildseed Farms, it's surounded by good wildflower viewing both wild and planted.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

mark, if you come to GA, it's just a short drive to Tenn, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina. In fact, we could hold a 'Meet Mark' festival at Callaway Gardens, and we could all come to meet you!

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Mark, I live about 45 miles from Austin, so if you come this-a-way be sure and let me and Aimee know ~ we might could both gather at one-or-the-other's house so you can meet us both. Or, you know what would be a great idea? Try to plan your trip around next year's Roundup! You'd meet a LOT of DGers then!

Kitchener, ON(Zone 5A)

How many in Canada Dave?

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

what if I was to give talks along the way?

Mark

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I think this is a fabulous idea!!! there are so many of us in the southeast that I'm trying very hard to get Mark here. It would be well worth a drive to get to meet him and see his presentation. Mark, I'm going to start working on what we talked about on the phone! I'll let you know if anything comes of it.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

tig how could you forget Virginia from the line-up?? :-)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oops!! too much sun??

Wigan, Landcashire, United Kingdom

Oh Mark if you are going over to the US, can i send you my subscription to DG as you will be changing quite a bit of money wont you, as if i just do my small amount i get crippled with extra charges.

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Sheila there are no set plans just yet. It will more than likely be this time next year before I travel.

Mark

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

a cousin and her husband have just moved to a RAF base in Gulfport, Mississippi and said I just come visit them. If I did that I could stay there for a while to acclimatise and then go out every so often to visit other members for a few days.

Mark

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Mark that sounds terrific.....If you come come to Dallas at the Arborethum, I'm sure there would be lots of us Texas there to meet you!! :o)

"eyes"

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

oops I just wrote RAF base!! it should read USAF base.

Mark

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Was wondering about the RAF......

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Does that mean the English have not taken over our bases?

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Heck, I just figured it was part of the ongoing combined defense efforts of our countries. Wouldn't surprise me to see them set up at some of our bases. But I did think it would be in Texas or some other hot place, to acclimate the troops to the searing heat and all that goes with it.

Hope Mills, NC(Zone 7b)

Its hard to believe North Carolina is number 9 on the list, yet I have never seen any postings by anyone else but myself from NC.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Bobwhite, you must not frequent the same forums as some of us in NC do. (With over a hundred forums, it's easy to miss someone!) There are several very active NC gardeners, esp. in the tomato and vegetable forums.

And in fact, there is a new Blue Ridge Roundup (get-together) in Boone on Sept. 24 with an open invitation to anyone who wants to come and meet others from the same area, swap plants and break bread together. Look for the Roundup forum, and the Blue Ridge RU thread.

Crossville, TN

bobwhite...how in the world did you ever miss our Horseshoe's great stories? JO

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Hey Dave.....what happened to Canada?????
:) Donna

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Hey! Remember that list is several years old!

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

I just found this thread.

Mark, where did you end up going?

Jody

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Oh....lol! Didn't even look at the date....silly me.
:) Donna
