I just received mail from a close friend of mine. She has an unusually beautiful name beginning with A!! But it was not her!! It was from a sneaky little person who can't get anywhere under their own name or organization I fear and has to resort to these practices! I was not happy!!! So be careful my friends, nothing is ever as it seems and someone is watching your every move!! There, now I feel better!!!!!
Edited after having calmed down a bit!! :-)

Cunning & Shameful emails
Hmmm...always something interesting going around here.
(((((((Margaret)))))))....I've received those kinds of emails too. Don't let it bother you my friend. Those kind of people are everywhere, and they live to stick their hackles in others. What goes round, comes round, and one day they will receive their just rewards!
"eyes"
What has annoyed me so much is that I didn't allow myself enough time to calm down before posting. I could kick myself!! This has never happened to me in my life before - have never read such dirt and certainly never knew I could become so angry!!
Sorry you had to get sh*t like that. It's happening more and more, but there will be a way soon to find out who these rats are, and they will be able to be charged internationally. The EU, and the rest of the 'Western' world are working on the legality of charges.
Your anger is natural, and I feel for you.
Head up Louisa!!

I'm not really sure EXACTLY what you guys are talking about...I have some idea, but not exactly. Nonetheless, it sounds like something I'd hate. I'm not sure why someone would do that...and I'm assuming you're talking about someone being more personal and representing themselves as someone else to fool with you?
I didnt quite understand it either, but I'm guessing what ever it was was not good.
Yes exactly hc!! Someone pretended to be a friend of mine. Used their name so that I would open it up and read it!! I should have checked the details first before doing just that!! It wasn't an attacking piece of mail, just filthy!! But it attacked my senses that's for sure!! Wintermoor, I wish I could have faith in what you say. I'm sure it's a long way off yet!!
Every other email seems to be porn anymore and some of it is hidden vey well. The scum of the earth do that kind of stuff. Shirley
I recently have been getting something from "nutty prictures" and I just delete them before opening. I just wonder how I got on their mailing list
IF YOU THINK IT'S BAD IN THE E-MAILS...YOU SHOULD SEE WHAT THEY DO IN THE CHAT ROOMS.ONE PERSON WILL BE PERSISTANT AND RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE.I DON'T EVEN GO THERE ANYMORE. THE LANGUAGE IS SO VULGAR...EVEN IN THE RELIGIOUS SITES.I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY GET INTO A ROOM WITHOUT THIER NAME ON THE CHAT LIST,BUT THEY DO!!! I WENT TO THE PRIVACY SITE ON YAHOO AND CHECKED TO KEEP THEM FROM LEARNING WHEN I AM ON LINE. HAVEN'T TRIED SINCE TO SEE IF IT HELPS.
We get those sneaky and offensive emails too. Some of them try to make it sound like they are replying to something you sent, "Re: reservations", or "Here is the information you requested". We are very careful what we open, and have turned off the preview pane on the email program so we have to double click to open an emal. However, occasionally one does open automatically if the message above it is deleted, so we are always watching. It is a good practice to delete anything questionalbe before starting to read your mail.
Sorry you are all experiencing the nasties!! Mary, I agree but I thought this was a friend!! Supposing the incoming mail said Dave Whittinger - wouldn't you have opened it?? Of course you would, it's a name you know and are familiar with!! I knew the name that came in my mail - it just wasn't her but an imposter!!
For it to be that personal (appearing to be someone you know) it must have been targeted then...because the other messages that people are refering to are common "marketing" tactics...I.E. having a subject contain something that makes it look as if it's someone replying to you. No marketing person would bother to make a message so personal. Of course, we don't even know the contents of the message and we probably shouldn't, but I'm assuming this wasn't a marketing ploy...but something of a personal nature (from what I'm reading here anyway). And there you have the reason why I never ever give out my real email address. I always use Yahoo or Hotmail for stuff like this...that way you can always delete the account and open another if you get too much junk mail or other unwanted garbage.
Louisa, me and my friends use a "code" name after the subject...like (catnip)...especailly if there is an attachment. No code...then it is NOT from one of us! We each picked a code name that only we would associate with that friend...dogs name...childhood nickname....porn scammers wouldn't know that coed. Just a thought. Jo
It's a good thought Jo - how come I don't know it :-)
I finally ended up putting a filter on my email account. The problem is, I still have to check it as some of the dg people end up there and I have to tell it that this is not junk mail. The rest of it, I just empty it and don't bother opening it. It is disgusting what people will do and I'm sorry this happened to you Margaret. ((((Margaret))))
In the past week I have gotten porn mail from
Dave, subject line...Just want to see how you are feeling.
Michelle subject....We missed you at...
Carol subject....Could you do me a favor?
Elliot..subject...thought you'd get a kick out of this
and a dozen others. I have friends by at least half these names but believe me these porn letters are not from any of them! I forward them to SPAM and block their addresses which usually does not help. I must be getting jaded to it though because I don't even flinch at them anymore.
The spammers use common names to hook readers into opening their e-mails. REplying to the senders only tells them they've reached a live address and to send lots more. When you forward spams to your ISP and other authorities, always include ALL the headers so they can trace them appropriately. They do stink, Louisa - I can empathize!
My instant reaction was to hit delete like a karate chop!! Must remember not do that in future. I wasn't prepared, now I am!! Thanks!!
I never get junk mail at home...I mean NEVER. I do get SOME in my hotmail or yahoo accounts, but not much there either. It really does have something to do with how much you put your address out there, how many people you copy blindly on chain letters, etc, etc. I don't want to make you think all the junk mail is your own fault, but I AM saying there are things you can do to avoid it. My dad constantly forwards me junk about jokes, little witty sayings, religion-related stuff and so on and so on. I just delete every bit of it. I don't even bother anymore...unless it's something HE wrote. I used to attempt to look at it, but it just got to be too much. I wish he wouldn't copy me on the messages to a mass of people...I don't like my address getting to people I don't personally send mail to. I don't know exactly what it is that's getting you guys all this junk mail, but I'd suggest opening a yahoo email account (free) and never giving the address out to anyone but your friends and see what happens. If you start getting the junk mail again, you can pretty much bet you've been betrayed by one of your email friends. Some sites such as yahoo are always adjusting their privacy policy realted to junk mail, etc...but I still haven't had any problems as of yet. The only problem I can remember is related to a purchase of a camera on the internet...immediately thereafter I started getting junk mail...credit card [deleted] and some (but not much) porn mail. I'll never buy from them again and I'l run peope away from them as much as possible. I'd rather pay more and avoid the hassle of the junk mail.
People with $$$ signs in their eyes are the ones causing us trouble folks. Greedy, crooked, corrupt, parasites...I hate having to say bad things about people, but it's hard to deal with people such as these spammers who have absolutely no respect for you at all. All they think about is money. I swear, we need to develope some sort of vaccine to inject these people with so they will quit breeding...lol There's a moral to this story...(boy, I'm all over the board this morning lol)...bad parents create bad kids and the cycle continues for as long as parents refuse to raise their children in a loving and caring home. My wife constantly tells me stories (she's a teacher) of how parents come to school and complain about the teachers and school officials punishing their kids, when the kid has done something wrong. There was a child that was caught with a weapon in his locker and guess what the "parent" said???...she said they searched his locker illegally! Not "thanks for letting me know, I'm gonna blister his butt!"...no, she said they did an illegal search for goodness sakes. She's a good candidate for sterilization if you ask me. She obviously has no clue about how to love, care for and correct her children. So here we have a future criminal and potential email spammer...her son. A perfect and personal example (so you know I know what I'm talking about) would be my own family...divorced when my brother and I were about 2 and 3 years old. My brother has attempted suicide a few times, has been married and divorced already (34 yrs old), has a child from the marriage, lives with my mom, changes jobs as often as he changes his underwear and has no concept of financial respnosibility. I know people make mistakes and I feel bad for broken people who are in terrible situations, but do you see why I feel the way I do?...we as parents have a huge responsibility and some people in this world just shouldn't have kids because they will only create more broken lives. They should get thier life straight before they have kids...and avoid dsestroying another person's life (their child). I take this personally because I've lived through it...from the perspective of a child who had to raise himself, who's dad would never play with him, etc, etc. My mom lives 20 minutes from me and I can't remember the last time I saw her. It's been months. We get along fine, but it's uncomfortable to see her...she's like a stranger to me...not my mom. I haven't seen my dad in maybe 8 months or so. He lives about 50 minutes away.
See how bad parenting can lead to junk mail?...lol (yes, I realize even good parents can have bad kids sometimes) Strange, but true huh? One thing leads to another. :)
