Average Last Frost Date

Elizabethton (Stoney, TN(Zone 6b)

I found this website that tells what your last frost date usually is. I learned something new as I thought ours was May 10. It's really April 29. http://www.victoryseeds.com/frost/

Thanks for that site. I found out I didn't know what I thought I did about our first and last dates for frost, but I'm sure they have changed over the years.

I don't like what that stite said. LOL.

We've always thought that our last frost was May 15, but that site says June 9th! Ugg! It also says first frost in the fall is August 28th, but I don't ever remember having frost in August. It's usually closer to the end of Sept.

I just had a wee look into that site, and thought I'd look up Alaska just for the crack...... well, it seems that a place/town called Barrow has its last frost date on the 4th of August, and its first frost date for autumn on the 24th of July........ er, that's all!!

WM, that august 4th date MUST be a typo, wouldn't you think? I'll bet it's supposed to be June 4th or maybe even July 4th? Or maybe that town never is out of danger of frost? As with anything you read, you have to take it with a 'grain of salt'. Most things are not gospel truth, just some truth. Still, I believe I'll go ahead and finish planting on approximately April 29!

Wow, you're right! Our frost date (I live about 55 miles from Asheville, NC) is supposed to be May 10, but according to this link, it's really April 24. I am 1000 feet higher than Asheville so my last frost date is probably more around May 1.

Yes I think also that it's a typo, but just imagine those poor people getting their autumn frosts before the spring frosts have gone.... brrrrrr ;-)

I hate to say this (I know the webmaster of the site GrannyLois referred us to, and he is a very nice gentleman) but this data is incorrect and cannot be trusted.

Trust the National Weather Service on this one. They are dealing with hard historical data. Here's a nice link that I've used with excellent results in the past:

Dave that's all well and good if you can read it...lol!! I was wishing that DL's was accurate because these eyes can spot the difference. 18th April for us it seems according to GL's link!! I would have thought TN warmer than VA somehow. Anyway - if young eyes can please take a look see for me and tell me if Charlottesville predictions are the same - or not!! Thanks!!
