Just curious from looking at pics what sort of garden accents make it into your garden. As for us, we use a lot of driftwood to line walks and to stand freeform. We have lattice, trellis and an arbor and use some old stumps for tables here and there. Of course hummingbird feeders and birdhouses and butterfly house. One garden has the painted parrots and the birdcage and we just got a brass sun dial which we will put out once it is dipped for preservation from the elements and find an appropriate pedestal.
So what are some of your favorite things?
Garden Accents
My favorite accents in the garden are always the ones I see in some one elses posts!
Nah, come on Zany I know you got some cool stuff out there in CA!
I have many containers, trellis, statue - just little things at the moment but would like a pergola, a pond and a lovely patio!! Actually I would just like a garden instead of red clay!! Getting there though slowly but surely!!
i have a birdbath, a parrot and 4 cats.
I have a wrought Iron fish that broke and now has kenilworth ivy growing thru it.. an arbor I just bought which has nothing on it yet but is also wrought iron.... my pond and a few bird houses.
I also have a rock or stone from just about every place I have ever visited in varying sizes from "too big for me to lift" to "fits nicely in the pocket" which is the size that most of the international ones are.
Love the wrought iron idea will keep my eyes pierced for some unusual pieces. Also think I will go with more pots this year.
Candee I brought all my pots with me from England plus the 3 birdbaths, bird table and my statue. I just couldn't leave anything behind!! I used to work in a nursery and garden shop and was fortunate enough to buy everything at wholsesale. Did I mention I want a couple of arches?? We have an antique/junk place near us here and they have wrought iron Victorian rose arches for about $150!! Might just treat myself :-)
Oh, that's a good deal louisa, better jump on that one for wrought iron.
Not having a garden as a garden should be but only flower beds, I had to build around an old concrete staircase. It's the daftest thing you ever seen, but gives the place that wee bit of character. It was built in 1890, as was the house, and 15 years ago, a new house was built next to us, taking up all of the space, and built right up to the stairs.
Have a wee look:http://davesgarden.com/editgj/showimage.php?iid=5055

Wintermoor
Right now I have access to free flagstone and a bunch of it! It is totally killing me that I have no way to get it home. Waaaahhhh! I am SO dying to rip off my deck and have a stone patio. So, anyone got a dump truck and wanting to see Ohio??? LOL Next on my list is making some lovely trellis for my Clematis and some other vines. Plans, plans....
Wintermoor - that is beautiful, the stairs are perfect for gardening. Sorry badseed, been there to Ohio and done that. Why not rent a small pickup for the day from a rental place (or is that real expensive). Would still be worth it for the flagstone!
C'mon folks, SURELY there is someone in here who is close enough to help Badseed get those flagstones....... I hate to see girls cry...... just a big softie.
BTW why do they call them flagstones?... I wouldn't want one of them flapping above my head in the wind !!
Best of luck Badseed
Yes haighr,
the stairs are good for a wee bit of atmo. where normally the concrete jungle rules..... hope all of my plants come up ;-)
All the best
