DH and DS went shopping today!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Look what Dave and Jaden brought me from town today! I'm so pleased that they thought of me. They left this morning to go golfing and had the pick up, and it was loaded when they got back. I think it's a peace offering for all the grief they've given me about my gardening obsession. There's 24 bags of pine bark mulch, 10 bags of topsoil, 4 bags of cow manure and 4 bags of potting soil, plus the garden hose winder thingy.

How they came up with the numbers of what they bought, I don't know, but I'm not gonna ask either. LOL!

P.S. They are forgiven!

I am just in heaven now. They knew just how to cheer me up a bit. They have decided to come around I think. They have teased me unmercifully all winter and more so this spring since the plants have taken over the house. DH did build my growlight stand, and has promised to build me some more trellises though.

Troy, I still haven't gotten them to touch the plants, but they do look every day. That's a start anyway.

Maybe now would be a good time to leave the paperwork for the mantis tiller laying around, huh? Mother's Day is coming soon after all!

Joan, I think this means those tears worked. He knew he needed to shape up.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Yeah Aimee, he did hurt my feelings terribly not too long ago. I didn't think he even remembered, but maybe he did.

Joan, now that's what I call a 'great picture'!!

Joan - Welcome to the "non-gardening hubby club"! I have to throw a fit every now & then to get any help from mine. Golfing & fishing season always add fuel to the fire. It was sweet of them to get all that stuff for you. Pretty soon they'll be bragging about your garden to all their buddies! That tiller will come too because they'll get tired of digging ;o)

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Wow! what a nice surprise. I got a wheelbarrow once for Christmas and thought that was pretty cool. You've got me beat!

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh, how wonderful!!! What a great guy he is!! It IS amazing what a couple of tears will do, huh, Joan? ;-) I hope you don't have to do that anymore, bless your heart!

Funny thing is, she cried because she was feeling genuinely alone and needed to see some cooperation on "their" home projects. It sounds like when he turned around and came back, she really had gotten his attention. Bet he hasn't stopped thinking of it since! Who loves ya, girl?

Today when we got home from church, he wanted to go out and walked through the yard and he looked at everything! Then took me out to lunch at Applebees, then we went to walmart so I could get a cheap pair of shorts for gardening. He bought two peonies, (the box type, but plants no less). I'm gonna get him to plant them too, and help him pick out where he wants them. Maybe if he has two plants that he picked out and planted himself, the interest will grow.

This is a major turn around. I'm enjoying it while it lasts though, before I go back to the "non-gardening hubby club", but I'm hoping it lasts. Love that phrase Sue.

My guys just took off to go golfing again, and I'm waiting for the conforter to get done washing, then I'm gonna go hang it on the clothesline and start doing something with all my new stuff.

I've had a great weekend. Thank you all for sharing it with me.

Joan patience is the key!! My hubbie has actually started reading gardening books, making trellis and even planted radish seed!! It's taken years of course to achieve even this, but it's happening and who knows - today radishes - tomorrow the world!! Hope you are still having a great weekend, even if it is nearly over!! :-)

Joan my wife asked me today as I was moving two lantana's what happened that changed me from a person that cared nothing about plants in to a great love of my life guy. Up until about 5 or 6 years ago I wouldn't have walked next door if my neighbor was giving away hibiscus to get one. I had a problem with my blood pressure and the Doctor told me to find a hobby that would slow me down like gardening. He said holding the end of a hose and watering the plants wpould be a great relaxer. Well I tried it and something happened and I fell in love with the garden. Your husband starting is a start and he might find that he likes it also. The Doctor didn't say any thing about all the worry if the plants are going to live or die. LOL
Be thankful for the start.

It's all those prayers uttered under our breaths, all the times we resist the urge to clobber someone with a bow rake, all the times we take care of the house, especially the kitchen, before we grab a tiny opportunity to indulge our love of gardening. And it might be simply the boy becoming a man. Thank you, God, for giving us patience to stick it out.

I am so jealous.
