The "F" word..no not that one!

Biel, Switzerland(Zone 7a)

Well, after months of exhaustion, confusion and pain,my doctor finally decided that I suffer from Fibro Myalgia.I am not happy, but life goes on(plus all that gardening). Although I miss all the things that go on here,I haven't been able to sit at my computer for longer than 10 minutes without screaming and turning it off. My doctor also told me that is it psychosomatic..has anyone else ever heard this? Sorry for the eye-catching title, and I apologize to any one who was offended.

sorry to hear it :(

Hey thanks tiG...it has taken me so long to actually face this, and even to write here..I have missed this place so much, but I am too tired or in pain to do more than read mail!! I couldn't believe she trivialised this condition, but the doctors here tend to do this(well, from what i've seen). I was told when I had poison ivy, which is unknown here, that it was due to stress lol

Gwist it's nice to see you posting again. I'm sorry it's under these circumstances though!! Have you done any research on this?? There are help lines and you can chat with others who are in the same situation. I found this site for you and hope it helps alleviate some of your concerns.

also, you might post in the Health forum, I know you're not the only one here with Fibro. I have the symptoms, but haven't been diagnosed, mainly because of what you and your doctor are going through, the drs are like that here also. But there are good treatments, and pain clinics are proving good here. Please find people to talk to and find things that work to help your pain.

Thanks for the site Louisa,I bookmarked it.Thanks for the hugs, you two!!(((())))!!!! Doctors here in Switzerland are more prone to dismiss things that they don't understand, and I have found more info on the Net than I have spending hours in waiting rooms!
I had the funny feeling that I came and went 3 months ago here,so I thought I would clarify this one! I have been just browsing, but no energy to post anything.Even my plants have been complaining about their treatment..kids are more understanding, but they see the change

This sounds like another backward notion that doctors used to have that all ailments with women were based on hysteria. That's why a hysterectomy is named what it is. I have 2 friends with this condition and I can tell you; it is not psycho. These are very intelligent and practical people. They are not hysterical. But this diagnosis is relatively new, there used to not be a name for this condition. There's lots of info about it on the net so do a Google search and learn all you can. Don't forget to talk to a nutritionist at a health-food store; they may have some help too...

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

Alot of docotrs Don;t recogonize it...BUT> let me be tir first to tell you...I have just been truend down for Hopsitalization because I went for massage last winter for it. ....So, how can that be????? it is now the new "thing" on their list that puts up a red flag...psychosomatic? How can something that is taht have you be turned down? just what I need. one MORE pain! lolol.

I hope you have gone to the thread about fibro and seen how many people here say the same things. How is it that we individually and independently arrive at the same conclusion after experiencing a list of symptoms so alike as to look like we copied off someone else's paper? My mother and great-grandmother had the same symptoms, and my precious little granddarling has some of them at age 5!. I know what you mean about being able to sit at the puter. I have to take drugs before I go on! However, I have realized some relief from a combination of herbs and vitamins B, and exercise like bicycle riding helped me quite a bit. Run like crazy from a doctor who tells you it's imaginary or psychosomatic.

Gwist, It is not in the head but different parts of the body. I have had fibromyalgia and chronic fatique syndrome for the past 4+ years; I have been blessed with an understanding doctor. I would echo the recommendation for finding someone who is supportive and knows something about this. As for information, there is so much on the internet on different ways of dealing with it, that I hope you will be able to find something that works for you. There are other people, on the disabled gardeners forum that have it. I use Arnica to deal with the joint pain that accompanies both of these diseases and have a recipe for a joint oil that I can send you if you are interested. You are not alone and it is NOT "all in your head"

Gwist I'm sorry that we didn't meet up the last time - it was so hectic and of course lots of problems with DD and baby. But we must and will connect the next time!! How is that beautiful part of the world looking right now?? I can still smell that mountain air and still feel dizzy when I remember the "heights" I attained :-) God bless!!

If an illness is claimed by a doctor to be Psychosomatic, then he should prescribe a course of hypnotism for you and that would eventually free you of the illness.

Many docs. claim an illness to be psychosomatic, because they don't know how to cure it.

Ask about hypnotism, Gwist, and see what they say.

Very good reasoning, WIntermoor. Of course, we all know it's in our head because of what isn't in the doc's head. The professional ego can't usually admit to such a vast sum of unknowing.

Gwist - it IS good to see you!! I am sorry about the fibro. I too suffer from fibro and rheumatoid arthritis with osteoarthritis thrown in for fun in damp weather! Fibromyalgia is not psychosomatic, but is is in your head and where ever else there are nerve endings, from what I understand. For some reason our reaction to nerve impulses - i.e. pain - is scrambled. I can get you a whole lot of info and a site with some very sympathetic and understanding people who also super,if you want. Send me an e-mail. I am presently on two anti-depressants and a muscle relaxer for this condition as well as a fairly strong pain med when it gets too bad. This is serious, debililtating stuff and not to be taken lightly. Please get some real help and soon.

(glad I reread this before I posted - had understanding people being supper!!)

You're 100% correct Aimée,
but have you ever seen, or heard of a doctor who didn't give medicines for something, even although it had nothing to do with the illness?
Doctors want to live as well, so medicine is prescribed..... instead of the best method to cure the illness.
I have always believed in hypnotism, I have never had an injection to kill pain at the dentist, or any other doc., I choose one who hypnotises me, and then he can do what he wants in my mouth, or whatever they have to do.
I had an operation on my lower jaw just 5 months ago, I didn't get a jag to kill any pain, NO, I was hypnotised, and you know what?..... I had no pain on the scar till it healed.
The good old angels in white aren't so much angels when it comes to making $$$$$!!!!
Ask your local homeopathic doctor, no heavy drugs, no poisons, just natural, and the power of the human body.
If an illness is claimed to be psychosomatic by a doc, and he gives you medicine against it, then he's lying to himself, since there is no medicinal cure for a psychosomatic illness. Talk PLEASE to your local homeopathic doctor, and about other methods...... not just heavy drugs.

Troy,
please have a look at this link.
I am an distributer for Noni Juice, amongst other mineral solutions, in North Germany for the company Neways, and we have many different solutions for replacing minerals and enzymes back into the body.
We only distributr Hawaiian Noni since the Tahitian Noni could be contaminated by radio-activity. This is the area where the French have nuclear tests.

Have a wee look through the site.

Hi everyone..wow,where do I begin?First,((((((((((Big Hugs)))))))))))) for all the support and the great advice!
I am searching for another doctor and have looked into some Homeopathic treatments, but I have received some very lost looks from pharmacists here,so I guess I have to treat it symptom by symptom.
Aimèe,I did go to the thread, and it was like reading my own list of vague problems that didn't add up at first.I have tried all sorts of things and was prescribed wrong treatments over and over again.I am hoping that this time some doctor will listen, and get it right.
Marcia,I would very much like to try your oil. Please e-mail me.
Hey Louisa, everything is in bloom, and it's window-box season! Geraniums are everywhere, but no Surfinias yet!

Wintermoor
hmmm interesting is there a link for a contact in my area.
I have been thinking of brcoming a dist. if the Tahitian Noni but have not comitted yet. also i have Morinda citrifolia seeds planted

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Troy,
have a look at this link. It is Neways USA. Even if you look under google, or any other search machine and type in Neways, you'll see how far distributed these products are.
You could make yourself a good bit of money doing it too, the rates are much fairer than the tahitian coy., and the product list is excellent.

Sure missed ya GWIST and am really sorry for the Fibro Myalgia that you're suffering with now it must be hell to say the least' There is some great advice here and know that doctors (some)are still in the dark ages and don't think they'll ever change unfortunately' Here we live with the NIH(not invented here)Theory. If our gov would let cures from other countries come here many would still be alive. Interferon was in France back in the 70's and very expensive but we couldn't travel and it was illegal here.It was a breakthrough in cancer and would have saved many' I was fortunate to have surgeons that went to Europe and brought back a technique to save my leg in the 60's,being experimental of course but was a success and now is probably "old hat"in medicine. We're all pullin' for you so try not to be depressed,ok? Easier said than done,I know but we're here for you' Sis'
