Need Volunteer Judges

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

We are having a "container contest" and I need some volunteer judges. Anyone want to oohhh and ahhh at some beautiful pics later in the year and pic the ones you think are the "winners"?

Thanks!!!

jody it's early yet - hopefully we will get some volunteers!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I'm not very creative so instead of being in the contest I'd be happy to look at everyones creativity if you still need judges.Sounds like it's gonna be lots of fun.

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Thanks Snow!!! Your Judge #1 :)

I don't want to judge because I want to enter. :)

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll be a judge! I like doing containers, but by the end of July they all start crisping up in the Texas heat. I doubt that I'd have anything by then worthy of showing in a contest. :-( But I'd love to look at pictures of everyone else's!

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Wingnut, I read this thread earlier today. It might provide an answer to all that heat...

Cool! Thanks, Smiln! I've heard of them, but didn't know if they were all that or not. Now I have one testimony and a link for a free sample! Thanks again!

Maybe those watersorb crystals Smiln told me about will work really well and I can enter next year, but for now I'd still like to be a judge, Jody! *grin!*

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Great Wingnut, (as long as you're sure you don't want to participate,) you can be judge #2.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm sure ~ I think I'll have just as much fun being a judge as the participants will! And I can see ALL the pics so I'll get ideas for next year! LOL!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Jody we could ask all DG members to vote for their favourites and that way there would be no dissent about whether the judging was a popular opinion. By that I mean, in the past I have seen how judges have awarded the photos tributes and I have not always agreed with the decision. But then, this is only for fun. Just though it would be a neat idea!!

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Louisa
There are waayyyy to many members here for everyone to give their opinions, hehe.

We will have several judges though, and it will not be on the photo. It is of the container in the photo. I don't folks to think they need to be any kind of photographer.

And you said it best "it is only for fun"

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

nuf said!! :-)

I suggest as judges just to make thing fair for everyone:

My Wife
My Son
My mate Mike
His wife Renate
and my Mother-in-laws dog Alvine
not forgetting the little Greek guy I met in the pub last week.

All the best (Honestly)

Wintermoor,

Too funny. By the way, I haven't been as far north as you are, but I have been to Frankfurt, Oberammergau and the famous schloss in the south....ummmm....Neushweinstein (I probably spelled that wrong). What a delightful country you live in.

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Hi Smiln,

the Castle to which you refer is Neuschwanstein, which part for part translates as New Swan Stone. It was built under orders from King Ludwig II of Bavaria for his boyfriend. That's something the Bavarians like to keep quiet ;-)

Heres a picture http://www.neuschwanstein.net/hotel-ruebezahl/castles/index.html

We don't have mountains here in the north but Hamburg is the most beautiful of the major cities. Frankfurt, where you were is a dump compared to us up here.

All the best Smiln

I loved the south most of all. We went into Austria, too, which was also a treat. Absolutely breathtaking. We would love to visit again and hope the Air Force sends us there one of these days. Maybe I'll get a chance to see your city, too. Frankfurt didn't impress me much, but the surrounding countryside was lovely.

Hi Jody, I would like to volunteer to be a judge in your container contest. Sounds like fun and I love to ooh and aah over flower pictures. :-) Please let me know. Thanks!

Great deblynn, your are the official judge #3! Thanks!

Anyone else?

Can I be a judge too?

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Ok, Jody, I changed my mind. I'd rather be a judge. It occured to me that I would feel much less pressure looking at other people's handiwork than having to come up with some brilliant ideas when so many people here have so much talent. I'd rather judge. :)

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Aawww Carla
You should not feel any pressure. This is all for fun! It was an idea I came up with to give me ideas for next years containers, LOL. You have lots of talent too! :)

If you really want to be a judge, no problem, but we would love to see your handiwork too.

Yes flo, you can be added to the panel.

If you need more I don't care to do it as long as it don't end at the same time as the morning glory one.

What about posting the semi-finalists and having radio buttons for members to click to vote? Could it work like the voting booth at DG? If I'm not mistaken, when a member votes there, but then votes again for another choice, the last choice they made is removed and the new one takes its place.

Jody,

I put the pressure on myself. Just the way I'm wired. I am a perfectionist and it's frustrating at times. This way, I have less to worry about. At least I know what my limitations are. :)

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

C'mon Smiln,

you ladies have forgotten more about gardening and plants than I'll ever learn.
I must be the least creative gardener/container filler on this site, at least according to my wife I am, but she's an artist.
I posted a few days back hoping for 'worst container', 'nothing bloomed' etc, as gategories to give myself at least a fighting chance, so c'mon, you're definitely a partaker, and not an onlooker.

All the fighting best

If you still need more- I'd love to volunteer :)

I can ohhhh and ahhhhh with the best of them.

(not to mention I can't enter this year, but will love to get "steal" ideas for myself- heheheheh)

Wintermoor,

That's very sweet of you, but there's some stiff competition here. Lots of creative, clever folks.

Many of the people here have forgotten more than I'll ever know. :)
