The credit card fraud saga...

If you saw my thread in General Discussion titled "Credit Card Fraud - UPDATE", you know what this is about. Well, here's another update, and I want to put it in this forum so it's not visible to the outside world.

I got a reply from the person who stole my credit card number (or used it, knowing it was stolen). He basically said he knew it was a "nasty" thing to do, but at the time it wasn't defined as illegal in his country. Imagine that. (Won't say where he's from...can't remember if I did in the other thread though...lol) I used a new email account that I set up just for the purpose of emailing him...so he still won't know who I am for sure. I surely didn't use my home email address or anyhting related to my ISP. We'll see if he replies anymore. No more harm can be done because that card has been cancelled and a fraud alert has been placed on my credit report. This is just unbelievable.

Is there a country on earth where it's not illegal to go into a person's personal funds and take their money?????Is it also legal there to help yourself to their family heirlooms, wear their favorite clothes, drive their car? I DON'T THINK SO!!!! If such a place exists, even if it's now illegal to do those things there, I would like to know about it so I can go there for a short visit. Apparently, individual rights aren't too important in such a country, and I think I could find some way to utilize that mentality to my supreme advantage. Why have my own house, when there are so many with enough space for me? Why buy a car when there are cars sitting vacant all over town? Who needs to spend their money on jewelry, when the neighbor's grandmother left some dandy pieces? My goodness, this really puts us old Capitalist Americans to shame! Just look at how nice it is to have so many people with whom to share!

"Just look at how nice it is to have so many people with whom to share!" ...lol...maybe that's the point Aimee. Keep in mind, this is an eastern European country that was once communist / part of the Soviet Union...and I'm sure still has many communist minded folks residing there. I don't really believe it was legal...but who knows. Maybe it was a technicality...a loophole that doesn't specifcally state that you cannot use another person's credit card for such activity. This person is most definitly a liar and is not trustworthy...obviously. So I doubt we can really believe him when he says that is wasn't really illegal.
Anyway, I hope the company hosting his website shuts it down soon like they said they would. They said they would like to wait for a reply from him so he can provide his real contact info and pay for it himself...and then when he replies (if he does) they'll turn over the info to the authorities. I seriously doubt he'll reply, so I hope they take action sooner rather than later.

Good luck, Dear, I hope he gets his just desserts. Ideally, he would be forced to work for all the people he fleeced, doing their bidding 24 hours a day at less than minumum wage, to be credited to an account, until he had worked out his restitution plus generous allowances for your angst and a penalty at the highest rate of interest. Then he should have to be branded on the internet and in all financial institutions, so he couldn't use anything but cold hard cash for future transactions.
