Texas, Louisiana storms

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

That's what I love and admire about you guys!! Your stoic determination and good humour in the face of adversity!! That when the chips are down you just get up and start all over again!!

Shoot! No sense crying over spilled milk. Just clean it up and move on. No good crying over it; just that much more to mop up and who would want to do that? Not me.Have enough other things to think about and to do.
Speaking of to do. Guess I best go get my casserole made so my hubby has something to eat this afternoon and have meatballs to make as well and my poor looking house plants need watering. They kinda hanging their heads;(well, leaves in their case).
All have a good day!

I've heard from Aimee! She just had her 'puter unplugged for the duration of the storm and has been busy with family.

My BIL said he watched the radar like a hawk at the time it was passing us and he said it bottlenecked over us with a huge storm to the north and a matching one to the south. THAT's why we didn't get much rain or wind despite the news showing all these tornados and floods all over the place. I'm used to it by now and don't get too worried when all the tornado watches and warnings go out. BUT I can't help but still want a root cellar under the house with a tunnel over to Mom's house so we'll all have a place to escape to just in case. ;-)

Coco's right, though ~ can't spend your life worrying about it. If it's time for you to go, that tornado or flood will get you whether you like it or not. LOL! And if I was all worried about it all the time I couldn't enjoy the rain storms as much as I do. There's nothing like standing at the window, feeling Nature's power, watching the wind whip the trees and the rain hit the ground, feeling that huge collective sigh from all the plants getting a good drink, and knowing that all will be washed clean when it passes. I love it!

Wingnut didn't mean to leave you out of the roll call!! I was distracted by the door bell ringing after I had posted my short message to MiniSchnuz. But then my concentration is all over the place!! Really happy to see you post and to know that you, like my daughter, love the wind and the rain!! :-)

In spite of more than two inches of rain, this limestone ridge is not soaked. Being rather steeply sloped, the land lets a lot of the rain run off across the highway. Much of my digging and mounding is to prevent that, but I can't do the whole place. Puddles don't stand long, the water seeps into the porous rocky terrain, and the caves I'm sure are under me get a nice shower. It was a good storm, lots of great lightning, winds about 75 miles an hour, and rain you wouldn't believe. It looked like one big waterfall all around. Yes, I almost had to pull over on the interstate, but the hail was small and I reached shelter to park the truck just before the heaviest rain hit. The wind actually rocked the truck under the bank's drive-through cover. This storm wasn't as sustained as others I have seen here. In May, 1989, it lifted two out buildings and moved them over several feet as I watched from the front porch. Being on a high point, I see more of that at home, so I was a little apprehensive of what I would find when I returned. Nothing out of place but a couple of garbage cans, the cats sitting on the back walk looking smug, and a couple of amorous owls calling to each other from the old house site, all was calm on the homefront. I am about six miles south of Jarrell, the town that was blown away a few years ago by a tornado, but I think God likes this place.

Today finally over with it that I had been cleaning up yard lots branches to burn it look much better also I feel much better. I will start all over again which I lost my plants to start the seeds again hope it will not happen again. LOL

MINI sorry to hear about your dog Teddy walk on your garden and you will need put light weight fence around the garden that way he will not go again, that will help to keep from damage. =)

Not to worry, Louisa. You can't possibly be expected to keep all of us DG'ers' home states straight! LOL! Yes, I do love the rain storms. They make me feel all small and insignificant which, for an Aries, is a good thing once in a while! ;-)

I love rain and windy and dark but one thing danger ligthing and noise loud hate this.
