Texas, Louisiana storms

DH told me this morning of the dangerous storms that hit yesterday and last night. I hope you are all safe my friends. Haven't seen Sis posting in a couple of days!!

Over here are doing just fine and just hard windy and cool so couple tree branches on the ground so we had to pick it up trash to burn. Today is rainy, so glad to have rain here good for plants. =D Hope Lisa's place are ok.

Hi Redrose - Forgive me I can't remember where everybody lives but so happy to hear you are OK!! I just phoned Lisa and she's fine at the moment but expecting strong storms around 12 noon! So make sure you are prepared just in case. Now to see if Coco is alright!! These storms in the US scare the heck out of me!!

Louisa, bless your heart, you are so sweet to be concerned with us all. The weather man told us to prepare for at least 5 inches of rain today and very high winds. I do hope to hear from our TX friends..yall check in 'k! Rose, hang in there, Mini you too! Here is to hoping it goes through without too much.

HI.. I am all fine. It did brought lots of rain here, flooded my vegetable garden. Soon as the rain stop , I had to go and dig so the water can drain out of garden.. what a messy day. Will have more raining on way.. It is drizzing now.. Glad to know you all are OK..

my little slice of tx is ok we got 3.5" and expect a few more by noon. only one casualty one of my plumeria is out of the ground but i'll bet one of the cats did that as it doesn't have leaves yet and all the others are ok.

A line of heavy rain passed thru here about two hours ago.
We had about 2 inches of rain and enough wind and lightning
for the whole year. No damage except for a few tree limbs.
Radar is showing a lot more to come.

i talked to eyes-they are wet but ok!

South of Dallas: lots of thunder, lightning,heavy, continuous rain. flash flooding, thankfully I am on high ground! Haven't planted anythng outside yet. so no damage noticed. Hope everyone else is OK. I turned off my puter to be safe, even though I have a good surge protector. Maybe why others have not been on too! More rain expected, then supposed to clear up til the next round next sat. Every one take care.(sneaking this in-between the LET-UPS :)

Sorry our Chat ended so soon Dori...I told ya the computer service was jerky from all the storms! I'm fine y'all...just good and soaked! We had 7 inches of rain yesterday, and it was wantin to come inside....Dh went out and dug a trench to redirect the water flow! Bless his heart! Can't do much now but wait for it to dry out!

Glad to see everyone is doing okay. Bud, I saw that Baton Rouge area was getting hammered. Do you think we are in for a repeat of last year? I sure hope not. Hope your crops do ok. I sure might have to bring those little babies inside! Be safe all, stay dry!

Doing fine here. A bit wet;almost 4 inches of rain here. Very strong winds last night,pea size hail and very heavy rainfall, quite a bit of lightening and thunder in the area as well last night.
The sun is shinning right now and is to be in the 70's by this afternoon but too wet to do anything outside.
Weeds to be pulled,grass needs to be mowed,things need to be planted and sitting in the house is driving me crazy.
Another good baking day I guess. Freezer is getting full so guess the neighbors will be getting some goodies unless some of you are willing to help eat some of this. The door is always open and everyone is welcome.

Will accept the invitation Coco if you will come and share my roast chicken :-) Hope the sun soon dries up all that wet stuff. Take care!!

Oh my here going to have more heavy rain soon suppose to have 100% chance rain so, right now it is dark cloudy and windy. It make me so nervous.

Yes, my son is with me but he is still sleep so long. LOL
Now it is so hard rain oh my and hope not damage my baby plants just put out yesterday oh well.

Don't worry love - if your baby plants don't make it we will always send you more!! But that's not much comfort after the work you did yesterday!!

REDROSE; you hang in there girl. Know what you're going through right now. We had that last evening. Now the sun is out and to be in the 70's today so you will see that rainbow after the storm. Prayers are with you and for everyone else in the path of the storms.
By golly,got a fish on the end of my line that I have out on the front porch. Wish I had an old canoe now to put in the yard and have people rowing across the water puddles.
Sure would draw the attention. O well, will have to do with the little fishy on the line.

Will say a prayer that all my southern friends make it safely through these storms. We all need rain but not so much all at one time. Keep us posted.

Rose, Mini, & Bud : Yall hang on to yer britches! I just saw the noon news and it isn't looking good for yall. They said some places got 5 inches of rain in 2 hours..ugh. It is getting very, very windy here..the house is creaking in some of the gusts and I can see the storms off in the distance. Going round up the critters and tie them down so they don't blow away.

Just fine over here west of Austin! We only got 1/2" of rain, no hail and not all that much wind, but did get an awful lot of lightning and thunder. I think most of it missed us or was going so fast we didn't get much. One minute, there were just a few sprinkles, literally seconds later it was a torrent, half an hour later, not much but sprinkles again. Such are storms in Texas.

Right now it's sunny and 80 degrees ~ gonna' be MUGGY today. UGH!

Anybody seen Aimee? Last I heard from her, she was off to do a job right about the time it hit here. She's about 50 miles west of me and the storm was headed her way. I'll bet she's fine, just sleeping in, that little night owl!

We have had 3 storms so far today and I see another on the radar.

Bud you are so right - last year was pretty bad!! I spoke to Lisa again and she was rounding up her critters. I'm just praying that everything will settle down pretty soon!! Wingnut no word from Aimee yet but she does get about :-) We must hope she's OK. I just don't want to be another Peter and the Wolf. Every time she went 'missing' I was concerned but she turned up eventually. Hope this proves the same!! Is Redrose still posting??

we just had a tornado touch down about 2 miles from me, right by my mom's house. I called her she was okay, but she was very scared. Lots of hail going on about the size of marbles. It is still raining. Sure hope it passes fast!

We are now at 3.8 inches and raining. No hail ... just heavy
rain and high winds. A big tree is down near one field.
So far, so good, just wet!

wow, this is what we have to look forward to. right now were under a tornado watch, but they just issued a warning for just west of us. nothing exciting here, just huge wind gusts, almost feels like the hours before a hurricane hits. no birds, no dogs..eerie quiet.
ill keep yall posted for the southern mississippi way.

Well, looks like we're in for more. Really dark in the South and West here so may end up with more rain today. Hopefully it will blow over but we do have more rain in the forecast for this weekend again. This is our tornado season here so who knows what may happen. I do hear thunder off in the distance.

still very clouded this a.m. We got at least 3 or more inches, possibly 4. It rained most of the night last night and my yard looks like a lake. That really is a nice selling point on a house..."A house on the lake" just what everyone needs....sigh

We lived in Richardson, Texas (suburb of Dallas) for 5 years during the 70s and 80s. Until you experience a Texas gully-washer of a storm, you have no idea how hard it can rain. You cannot drive in it. You have to pull over. Then the hail pounds your car. In the neighborhoods, the streets fill up with water, up to the curb, and over, in a matter of minutes. It is unbelievable! I feel for you all, but I also know you've been through this time and time again.

Yes, the big thrill of living in Texas.
The skies may be cloudy and the yard may be under water, and the grass may be getting ankle deep,weeds growing everywhere, and mud all over the place,but the eyes are dry as I know that there will be better days ahead. I feel, things could always be worse. Just keeps all us Texans guessing from one minute to the next. I look at it this way;can't work outside but I sure can be doing some baking and catching up on some indoor chorus so there is a reason for everything.
Louisa,I sure wish I could take a picture of my little fishy and post it, but no can do. What I did was cut a fish out of a piece of styrophome,painted it bright orange and hung it on the end of the fishing line and have the rod secured to our front porch, and have a container full of water down below. That's about as good as picture that I can give you of me catching fish from our front yard.
Now, if I just had a canoe. Could do all sorts of things with that in my front yard. Oh well, fishing will have to do.
