I had a great day today

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

finally put everything on hold and went to the garden. spent most of the day. i really needed a break from all that has been going on in my family's health. I planted 50 pepper plants, 20 squash plants, oodles of tomatoes and basils, marigolds galore, tilled and cultivated the planted area of my garden, about a 50 x 100 ft area. got on the tractor and harrowed the rest of it again about another 50 x 100, then hooked up the bush hog and cut half of our 5 acreas. grass is already nearly a ft tall. the weather was beautil 70 for the high 50's tonight. I know i will pay dearly tomorrow for all ii did today but boy what a day!

did anyone else have a great day today

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Wow Janet!!
Sounds like you need to bring your tractor and come on down to villa rica! I sure could use the help with tilling my garden this year lol Actually I did have a pretty good day myself, I managed to plant all my stuff I got in the mail from Direct Gardening, which was Tulip trees, weeping willow, burning bush, and hygrangea's and more! I still need to till my veggie garden but our tiller is on the blink...so I will probably have to pay someone to come till it for me this time. which I don't mind that b/c I love doing veggies!
We have been having some beautiful weather lately haven't we?!!! I can't resist getting out there right in the middle of all that dirt! lol

Wow -- LOL, just the planted area your garden is nearly as big as our whole lot, and we have trouble keeping up with our little plot!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Janet sounds like you enjoyed all that hard work but I know you needed that 'space' right now!! You must have felt well and truly satisfied with yourself for a job well done!! I could do with all that heavy equipment of yours!! Fancy driving that tractor up to VA??? It was a gorgeous day!! I spent most of it in the church kitchen but that's rewarding in itself!! Can't believe the weather though!! The temps have dipped below freezing tonight and will continue to do so for the remainder of the week. I have a garage full of shrubs and trees to plant and if I don't do it soon the clematis and other vines will be swallowing up the house like an old outer space movie I once saw!! I'm sure some of my English friends will remember The Quatermass Experiment - the younger ones anyway :-)

I'll have to look up that movie at the library or the rental store - Sounds fun! :) Ah - found this info. It was a 6-part TV series, made into a movie in 1955. Now if I can only find where to rent them!

Heck Kimberley - you are quick!!!!! I was a young girl when this first aired on TV back home!! It was a serial and came on each week - can't remember how many episodes!! The music was really scary and my mum and dad didn't want me to watch it but I kept on and on and in the end they said that if I really wanted to scare myself to death then go ahead and watch it!! I couldn't of course - not all of it!! I started to have bad dreams and it serves me right!! It would be considered very tame now!!

I edited my post because I found a site which had more info than any of the others I'd listed. I love sci-fi. :)

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I used to love the 'old' sci-fi!!! I find most of the modern stuff too far fetched!!!! Like the Quatermass wasn'nt!!...lolol - but you know what I mean. Weird aliens with weird masks!! Too much!!! Now having a body turn into a plant - hey that's much more acceptable...lolol!!!

Louisa, I'm with you. Loved the old sci-fi, but not the new. Oh, oh, are we starting to sound like those old people who talk about the way things were and how good they were ???

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Well I love the old sci fi and the new...or at least some of it Alien Nation, Star Trek (s) , Earth Final Conflict and Leave it to Beaver reruns....Yes that last on is pure science fiction!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

GrannyLois no I don't think we are sounding like those people you mention!! I loved yesterday and I love today, it's just real good old fashioned nostalgia :-)

Zany - I always knew you were hip!!! :-)

Janet looks as though we have hijacked your thread - sorry!! I notice you not posting and can only imagine that life is tough right now!! Thinking of you and your family and the difficult days ahead!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

another sci-fi fan here. I watch the old Twilight Zone and Outer Limits (the original) every day between 12 and 2. Outer Limits has always always been my favorite show, love the new ones too. actually they're better than the old ones most times, but nothing beats the Twilight Zone.
