Calling all Latin-phobes!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Afraid of using those Latin plant names? Time to put your fears aside. Check out Botanary: http://plantsdatabase.com/botanary/ - the Dave's Garden botanical dictionary. You can search for a specific name that's always bugged you, or browse through all of them alphabetically (be careful, with 6,000+ names you could disappear in there for a while, LOL!)

I am so impressed. who added all the info?

Mark, several people are to thank - Baa, who not only gave Botanary its name, but along with Copperbaron, Aimee, PoppySue managed to search out the etymology (and pronunciations) for thousands of terms. It was a true team effort, and they deserve a big hand.

It's also now integrated with the Plants Database - you'll notice that next to most genus and species names now appears a pronunciation guide and a link to the entry in Botanary. That part of it was Dave's doing - he took the information and quickly had it up and running.

The next phase will (hopefully) include family names.

Vols you left someone out in that list ... YOU!

I think you deserve a big pat on the back for the Botanary.

I think you all deserve a big pat on the back!!! It's great and there was allot of work involved. Thanks to all of you for making DG even greater than it already was!
