Fairy Rings

Burlington, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey folks - here's a good one for this time of year. My friend has what I thought might be Fairy Rings in her yard. They are large rings of grass that is really green and then a lighter center. Is this what a fairy ring is? They are coming up in several places - is this ok for her lawn - just a nice place for fairy's to play - or is this something that is a symptom of something not too good?

Thanks

As long as the ring is not surrounded by toadstools, then she's OK, otherwise it's not a good sign!! Take a look at this link!!

Here's the entry in Gardenology that describes fairy rings: http://davesgarden.com/gardenology/go/1317/

Unfortunately we don't have any photos - if anyone has one, please feel free to post it within the entry :)
