Time change?

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Anyone know when the time change (Foward) this month?

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

This coming Sunday, April 7, 2002 during the wee wee wee hours of the morning...spring ahead 1 hour. "T" :)

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks, I am so exciting and can do spend more time during late daytime. Hooray!

Ours changed already - sunday morning. Whoopee, daylight later!! :-)

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

You're quite welcome..my pleasure to help. "T" :)

I remember it by:
Spring forward and fall back.
Neat eh?
:)

Phil, I use the same system. It helps.

Crossville, TN

WEll, Indiana and Arizona have enough good sense to leave the time alone!! LOL BUT...Now I will be 3HOURS differnece from all of you on the East Coast, instead of two....but will be the same as California....until October gets here. Jo

when i was in the air force one of my roomies was from Az and he thought i was screwing with him when i told him we needed to change the clocks that was when i found out not everyone does this.

I still think it is an out dated thing to do.

Philomel, my grandma always remembers to turn clocks forward by 'one hour ahead, to midsummer (Juhannus) on spring, and on autumn one hour back to summer' .

My sentence might sound stupid because it was hard to translate, haha..

'Keväällä kohti Juhannusta, syksyllä kesään päin'

Your sentence makes perfect sense thanks Evert. That's a good one!
To explain mine - for anyone unaware - autumn is called fall in the US

Sorry didn't answer earlier - been away for the weekend.

I hate the time change stuff, too! Just did it last night, so have to remember that it'll get dark an hour sooner (I think ~ right?). I wish they WOULD just leave it alone!!

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

phil, think so..? =) Yes I know autumn is fall but I like word autumn better, it sounds nicey :D

Wingnut ~ think it's darker in the mornings and lighter later in the evening. More time to work in the garden after work/school :)

Evert ~ yes, I only use fall to remember the clocks, I think that's quite a funny ( or punny!) little rhyme though. Do you know what a pun is?
;o)

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Philomel, what time does sun rise and set down there right now?

Today in Helsinki:

Sunrise: 6:15
Sunset: 20:56

:)

I didn't know what pun means before I checked it in translator - http://212.213.217.194/cgi-bin/mofind.exe/dr1?word=pun

That's a very cool translator Evert!

I'm ashamed to say i'm not sure when our sunrise/sunset is at the moment. Normally i have it in order to do bat work, but i have a different diary this year and have just realised that it isn't in there, so will have to get a chart. Thanks for making me aware!!

Guess that our sunrise is similar to yours, possibly marginally earlier, but i think our sunset is possibly about an hour at least earlier than yours. Though, as the clocks changed so recently, i haven't got used to it yet.

:) I ddidn't find suntime schedule for Sittingbourne, but found it for London..

Sunrise at 06:21
Sunset at 19:45

Pretty different for ours ;)

Now, suntime of Helsinki and London on 24th of June (Juhannus, the midsummer day in Finland also my nameday):

London:

24 June 2002
Sunrise: 04:44
Sunset: 21:22

Helsinki:
24 June 2002
Sunrise: 03:56
Sunset: 22:50

Pretty cool huh? ;) :]

Thanks Evert. That's great, I'm only 40 miles from London, and only a few miles east of the Greenwich meridien.

Our midsummer (equinox) is June 21st, my youngest grandchild's birthday!! So now i'm happy to know two midsummer people ;)

VERY cool mmmmmmm ;~)
