We used to put dryer lint in the hamster cage for my daughter's hamsters (when she had them). They love to build nests with it. :-)

I know that isn't a gardening use for dryer lint, but thought I would share it anyway.

Clever. I can always pass that info along...thanks

We hang it on the fence this time of year.
The birds love it for their nests.

ahh Paul beat me to it! I was going to say that we usually put it out for the birds this time of year too. I usually put it in my empty suet(sp?)feeder along with some short pieces of string and twine they love it!!

Dryer lint is a no no for nesting material. When it gets damp,it is a mess. Dampen your fingers and pick up some. You'll see what I mean. It's soft and warm looking while it's fresh from the filter, but let a mama bird with damp feathers try to cover her babies in a rainstorm and see what you get. About anything is better than dryer lint when it comes to birds.
