I just heard on the news that the Queen's mother died this afternoon.

sad news
I just saw that sad news and she was 101...
OH, NO!! How sad!! Out of all of them, I liked her the best. I thought she was so cute and sweet. And a chicken afficionado to boot! How can you not like someone who likes chickens? I don't follow the royalty much, but did always like her.
This is indeed sad news. I especially liked her endurance and calm good humor in the midst of turmoil. She will definitely go down in history as an exceptionally good and popular royal.
It is with much sadness that we have lost our Queen Mum!! I loved her!! May God bless her soul!!
I don't know much about the royalty either but I extend my deepest sympathy to all our dear British friends. May God rest her soul!
I just got through reading the ABC News story on her as well as the BBC News story and I have to say, "Wow! What an incredible woman!" Did you all know that during WW2, when counseled to go to Canada with her daughters, she refused and stayed in Buckingham Palace WHILE IT WAS BEING BOMBED, saying, "Now I can look the East End in the face." (meaning the rest of her country that was bombed)? Incredible! Just incredible...

Bless her heart, She really was quite the lady.
A peaceful end to an incredible and long life. Rest in Peace Queen Mum.
My thoughts are with her family and especially the Queen. To lose your only Sister must be tough but to lose your Mom just over a month later is a lot to bear.
Oh No, I had not seen the TV all day! How sad!!!!!!
I had heard on TV that she was considered a "commoner" but judging from her parent's names and titles, she almost certainly had royal blood flowing through her veins from somewhere.
The Queen Mum's husband, King George the VI, was a descendent of Charlemagne, William the Conquerer, and Mary, Queen of Scots. What a lineage!
My sympathies to all the UK members of DG. She was a popular lady and very highly respected around the world.
I have a habit of tuning in to BBC on the radio at bed-time for the Sports news followed by W news. A small radio always lies by my pillow. I heard the announcement almost as soon as it happened. Sad indeed.
Very sorry to hear the news. I hope it doesn't put a damper on the Queen's Jubilee, though I'm sure it will. It's very sad.
