The new watched forum notification is GREAT!!

Yes, I really like this, too! Will we still get emails as well, or should we just check DGs for updated threads?

Nice "personalization" feature :)

Thanks, Paul and Morph. Unfortunately, the mail alerts are currently completely disfunctional, so the homepage notifications are kind of a quick fix while I try to figure out what's wrong with the mailed notifications.

Hopefully soon we'll be back with both types of notifications...

Well, Dave, I don't want to disappoint you, but I think that the "watched threads" isn't quite working 100% either. Unless, that is, that the threads only appear when there is an update to the thread. But, I could have sworn that yesterday all my "watched" threads appeared regardless of whether or not there was a new post. Good luck! I'm a programmer so I know the challenges.

Morph, I had a tiny bit of the same thing, but blamed it on my poor memory when I got there and found no new post. So, maybe it was what I first thought, and not my senile dementia.

Morph, the watched threads are only supposed to appear on the mainpage/homepage when they have a new post added. (If you're logged in and click on either of the "Dave's Garden" links at the top right of any page, it'll take you to the mainpage/homepage I'm talking about.) You can see all of your watched threads if you go to your member page and click on "View the threads you are watching" link. Hope that helps!

BTW, Dave I LOVE that "watched threads that show up on the homepage only" feature! I don't think I've ever seen that on any other forum. Saves me lots of time looking through ALL the threads for the ones I want to follow.

Thanks for distinguishing between the two for me, Wingnut! I'll go try it now. I'm like Aimee & my memory adjusts to what's there at the moment. It sometimes let's itself be deceived that it may not have been as I thought :)

OH PLEASE, I MISS IT!!!! I am having problems keeping up with all the posts that I watch, I miss the email notifications.

I must confess I stopped the email notifications a long time ago, when Dave first gave us the option of the thread watcher at the top of the page. It's so cool to check in and see the threads that have been posted to since I last checked. No more relying on my memory for where to look for the threads I want to keep up with; and no more emails adding to the clutter in my email box.

Kudos to Dave for a unique approach!

Your welcome, Morph! Did I mention that you have to have the "post messages on the mainpage" checked in your preferences? I think Dave said he enabled that on those of you who had been getting e-mail notification. Just wanted to let anyone else who was wondering know how to do that.

And I must admit that I never used any kind of notification until the "notification on homepage" feature. Besides the too-much-e-mail thing Terry mentioned (yep!), it's just, flat handier not to have to check my e-mail to see which threads have new posts. JMHO...

Yes, after the past week or so, I must admit I like just coming straight to DGs & seeing the updated threads (even if it is just a work around for now). I agree with Wingnut & GV that my email now stays cleaner & I don't get multiple notifications for the same thread which saves me time in email.
