Anyone ever join?
Is it worth it??
I keep getting these in the mail and the trying new items sounds nice but I don't want to get hooked into a bunch of junk.
Thanks...
National Home Gardening Club????
I was in it for a year a while back. Never got to try anything!! Just kept sending books.
I was in it for several years, all I got to "test" was a pack of seeds, which never grew. (something common).
This is some kind of a direct mail. I joined a couple years ago and no tests just a magazine with soso info. This year I received same and tossed it, then my son received from "National Hunting" and a separate "National Fishing". Same mailing same freebies just different headers. We kept the name labels zipper pulls for my son and the 2 packs of seeds for me and trashed the rest.

I just rejoined and have recieved my first test product
shake n feed miracle grow-big bottle of pellets.
I got a very nice pair of pruners for joining and a nice sturdy trowel for looking at "one" of the books from their collection-I have several of those books from the first time I joined.
I go to the www.site they have and read and post there. they have a online contest also.
Im hoping to test a BIG product! Ive seen a few people i know there also. My sister is a member-thats why I joined!
I complained about not testing anything the last time i was a member-LOL hey its worth a try! ;]
They are talking about a test greenhouse-pick me pleaseeeee
whos next........
I was rather put off by their saying that all of the stuff was for MEMBERS ONLY - you were not to share. WHAT! Gardeners not sharing???? It doesn't get far in this house.
I have been a member for the last five years and what the members only means it that we can get a discount on some of the gardening shows and at different places that you have to show your card and get a discount. So they ask that you don't allow others to use your card. I don't have my membership here at hand but just like this club they have to be members in order to share the web site and other membership privileges.
I do enjoy the magazine they have a lot of information and before I got my computer it help out a lot. I have been able to test a product Called ProtectoMat, then they ask for a rating. They include our likes and dislikes in the magazine so that it is rating produts by gardeners for gardeners. They also give us a fee book about the different flower shows where and when, etc. well you get the idea. The only thing that I don't like about the club is that you can't post pictures.

I got the pruners as well and the garden book for the states. Not sure if I would renew my menbership.
I like the info I get from Dave's better. LOL
I've been a member for about 5 years now.I got to test some Amish made compost. You have to sign up each year to be a tester and I never have messed with it after that. The magazine is nice, but very general.I'm beyond most of the information that they offer now.It is great for a beginning gardener with no internet access.I find that I skim the magazine and toss it aside when it arrives now. Before DG(and internet)I waited by the mailbox anxiously when it was time for it to come.
I've visited the website and posted some on the boards there, but find it more difficult to navigate.
I won't renew my subscription this time around, but I can't say it's because of anything bad about the club.I just have more specialized intrests now.But that's how I feel about all of the print magazines. Why wait a month..or two, when you can come here anytime, day or night.
As far as the Members Privileges...well,I figure I'm suscribing to the magazine and anything else I might use is just an extra.I never have used any. I've just visited the website occaisionally and really haven't spent much time there at all.
Ditto for me!
That is what make us gardeners so great, we each like different things. Sometime it is very hard to set at the computer all day and I like to lay down and see what's new in the gardebn books and magazines, you can never learn it all. I love having a computer it means access to a lot of information and clubs. I like all the clubs that I belong to,I get a little bit from each and every one of them. I do have my favorites so I like the oppertunity to float around and see what is going on in all of them. Of all the clubs I belong to I like this one the best because it has so much more to offer and I have made some wonderful friends here and wouldn't give them up for the world, but that is MHO.
Thank you all for the info.
I don't think it's smething I want to do, would rather save my money for other really good Gardening magazines.

Well, I have have a lifetime membership with them and got a buch of gardening tools and a bag to store them in and carry it with me out to the garden. I haven't tested anything yet. I am finding that I am starting to get a little beyond the magazine but still read it when it comes. As I find something in there from time to time things that are helpful. The issue before last showed a bunch of new flowers, veggies & fruit that are coming out this season. One of the new fruits this year that I found rather intriguing was the Lemon Ice Watermelon. It is a seedless sweet watermelon with yellow flesh.
I like the information on the different places to find the new plants, I enjoy the online club they have a bunch of nice people there as well. As a matter of fact I have seen a couple of people from this forum there as well, it's always nice to see old friends at different places.
