Hey, I have heard some people complaining about pop ups and may have an answer. I have never seen a pop up that actually came from here but.... Yesterday I was doing some reading on the forums and of course clicked a few hyperlinks to gather more info, see pictures, etc. As I was back tracking my way to DG, I got 2-3 pops ups each time and it happened when I followed hyperlinks. Although they are popping up while I am at DG, each time I had just clicked a hyperlink, then came back here. Those goofy things are like dominos, as soon as you shut down one, you get another and others are time released or something. If I only clicked on forums and messages I didn't get any. Could that be what others are experiencing??
Pop ups from hyperlinks
Likely. I've seen websites out there that, when a visitor goes to their site, they don't send a popup. But, as soon as the visitor leaves, the popup appears.
That would be a very reasonable explanation for what's going on here. It's infuriating to me, actually. :(

Quite frustrating for someone who has a slow puter and limited time. Sometimes, so many of them pop up, one after the other, my puter freezes and won't load anything else for several minutes.
I hate them with a passon and sometime they can be for things you wish to never see if you get my meaning.
I was looking for info on Ball canning jars and was shocked as to what came up and had a Hell OF A TIME GETTING OUT.
I have never had a pop up appear while visiting DG! Thats one of the great features of this site!
No I haven't had one on DG either.
I have gotten one every once in awhile when you go to a Hyperlink that someone has posted. That has been the only times when I have gotten one while being on DG.
Oh,pop-ups...what a thing to keep us all busy from doing other important things. They sure a pain in the;--- well you know what.
Hear, hear, Sis! I've never encountered a popup of any kind here either. It's ALWAYS been when I go to an offsite link. It's NOT Dave's fault of course and I don't think there's much that he can do about it, so I just take the chance and remember where they came from so I don't ever purposely go there again. I've heard that there are programs you can download that will stop them, but I don't know much about them. Dave, have you heard about anything like that?
My web-browser (http://galeon.sourceforge.net ) has an option to disable popups, thus I -never- see them (Yes, this feature is AWESOME!).
Hopefully one day soon real web browsers will be available for Macintosh and Windows.

I use POW by AnalogX. It's a pop-up stopper type program which you customize to just close the pop-up's you don't want. It takes a little time for it to "learn" what ones you don't want to see, but after that, it's very effective. It runs in your Windows system tray and when an unwanted ad pops up, you right-click on the tray icon and add the pop-up to the list to kill. POW is found at http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/pow.htm
There are programs such as Pop-Up Stopper which kill ALL pop-up's, but they can sometimes kill windows you DO want, like product info pop-up's on shopping sites. But you can always disable the program when you're at a site where you want to see the pop-up's. Pop-Up Stopper is one of the best and can be found at http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10059-108-66880.html?tag=upd
WONDERFUL!!!!! Thanks y'all!
So that is why I was getting those pop ups, I got so many one day I just gave up.
