Broke my ankle :(

Well I won't be on much for awhile as I have to keep in bed with leg up. Will check in every now and then. I slipped on ice and broke 2 main bones in my ankle, had surgery and back home now. Thay say after a week or so I should be feeling much better. I hope! Can't put any weight on it for 8 weeks,Then I guess I get a different type of cast. Please say a prayer for me. love to all!

Ouch'' Sorry to hear this MWSB,since I usually only sprain my ankles and the pain is unbearable, can't imagine a "break" We'll be here waitin' for you so mind the doc and we're sending prayers your way' Sis'

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

So, sorry, MWSB. They say a break is better than a sprain because it heals faster... of course, that's easy to say when you're not the one with a broken ankle. Here's hoping that you'll be able to spend lots of time visiting in DG when you don't have to keep your leg elevated anymore!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am so sorry to hear that! I hope you are not in too much pain and I hope you heal really quick!! Maybe you can find some good books, magazines or catalogues to look at. There isn't too much thrilling stuff to watch on TV. :)
Get well soon.

What a terrible thing to happen! I hope you heal quickly and without complication or excess pain. At least it's before spring really sets in, so you won't miss the entire season. I will include you in my prayers, I know you are going to need that comfort when it begins to heal. Be patient, don't rush it!

oooooooo I am so ssorry and I know what u are going thru
I slipped on ice 2 years ago and broke my fib an tib
they put my foot back on with a plate and 10 screws
please take it slow and don't over do it..It's so painful
I KNOW ,have your meds on time and use that ice ,oooo poor
baby your leg will turn black all the way to your knee
I will pray for you and your healing,,,,,[[[[nana]]]]]

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Nana, you stop scaring that woman with those horror stories this minute! It might only turn purple, or yellow, or green. And anyway, she won't see much of her leg for awhile, so it won't matter what color it is. At least these days they have lighter weight material for casts, and you don't have to rot away in plaster, then get it sawed off. But it's hard to sign the new and improved ones.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

How about some of those wonderful, new color markers and paint pens...we could have a lot of fun, and that would lift her spirits.....so what would you write on her cast? I think I would draw a picture of a rose, and write my handle beneath it! Hang in there swwetheart!

It is a real mystery how the body can heal itself.broken bones just seem to grow back together as time goes by.In a way you are lucky, it wasn't both ankles, trying to stand is hard enough on one leg, two is very painful. I know from experience, shattered both mine in an auto accident 15 yrs. ago.oooowie when the weather changes. may god give you comfort and ease.God Bless

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

I`m so sorry Lana. I hope the mending goes real fast, just follow doctors orders no matter what.
Get someone to put a recliner with plenty of pillows to prop your leg on and a lap tray to set the keyboard on and your in business. If it were me I couldn`t stay in bed, I would be making arrangements to follow doctors orders and do what I wanted on the computer too.{{{HUGS}}} and my PRAYERS...

ya'll are so sweet. couldn't sleep so got up to look around a bit. I do feel better today. I guess all those prayers are working. It's hard. and very boring, yes Friends and relatives have brought a few magazines and books over but I read alot so I will be out before I know it. I have my foot proped up on my desk. My kids have been wonderful so far. house is all clean, laundry done, 4 dogs fed and tended to son feeds outside animals. So I can't complain there. Hubby still hasn't gotten home. (truck driver) so ......hopefully this weekend he will get in. And if all heals well I will be outside in garden June 1st anyway even if in a walking cast! No broke ankle is gonna stop that! :)does anyone out there read true crime books???? would love to find someone to trade books with :)

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Here's wishing you a Happy Birthday, broken ankle and all. When you get feeling better you can celebrate it properly, meanwhile take care of yourself. I'm sure the pain relievers are better than they were when I broke my foot back in the 50's when I was about 12. I remember laying on the couch with my foot up on the arm plus a few pillows for extra lift. Maybe someone could get you an armload of books from the library. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

MWHurtbird,I hope you heal quickly and are back in the garden soon.
I have true crime books. Maybe I can fix you up with some reading material that I would be glad to mail you. Dottie
