I have decided

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I have decided to post on my member page the following:

"I will only accept TRADES from folk's that are DG subscribers. I will accept SASE from non members."

Don't mean to be a grouch but I have had several so called "trades" that turned out to be a one way deal.

What do you think??

I think that is wise of you.

The same has happened to me with non subscriber trades in recent months. I agree with you entirely, you're not being a grouch at all. If they had just asked for SASE I would have happily sent them on anyway but I feel I've been lied to once to often now.

Well, at least with SASE, I can wait til it comes from them, & I know I won't get stuck with the postage too.

I almost had a tarde with a non subscriber.... she told me she will send me Danish Flag poppy seed and I should have snet her some.. anyway I couldn't find the seeds and if I remember right she told that she sent the seeds. ANywya, never got them and emailed her back but got no answer. Good that I didn't send my seeds.. EHmm. :/ :?

Evert: Did I tell you I'd send you Danish Flag seeds? I assume you're talking about the poppy I posted at the Photo forum a while back. LOL!! I usually keep records of all the seeds I send out, but that was one of my first sendings, so I can't find a record of what I sent you. Anyway, whatever the case, I have Danish Flag poppy seeds, and I can send them out to you in the next day or two...let me know what else you'd like, since there's no sense sending a pack or two of one kind.

Oh, this whole seed thing is so funny! I think we are all guilty of forgetting things, especially those of us who are older and the brain cells are beginning to backfire once in awhile! If I've forgotten to send out any seeds promised, I really want to hear about it. I don't offer seeds unless I have them to spare, and I want to see them give someone else the joy that the mother plant gave me. Could we all agree that reminders are OK?...even desired?

Back in the days when I waitressed or bartended, we used to refer to not receiving a tip as "getting stiffed". None of us liked it, but since it was a voluntery thing in those days, we had to just let it go. By the end of the evening, the tipless table was offset by the overly generous folks at another table. If we spent to much time worrying about it, it would have driven us crazy.

In most cases, I don't want to sell or "trade" seed, because I worry that the seeds might fail or the resulting plants might not meet expectations, and someone will feel cheated. If I give the seeds freely, I don't have to worry about that.

I've sent out several envelopes of seeds since I first subscribed to Dave's this Feb., even paying the postage myself, since it never cost much, and it was going to friends... my DG garden buddies. It gave me great pleasure to think that some of my seeds would be growing around the country, around the world. What a wonderful concept.

I don't mean to down play the value of anyone's seeds or plants, since there's some very valuable trading material out there. I guess I can afford to be generous because I'm not depending on trades to begin spring planting, and the seeds I trade come from my own garden. I understand that it is disappointing to wait for mail that never arrives, to count on seeds that never appear, but as my old mother used to say, "Never bet more than you are afraid to lose."

Weez, no you didn't... :] Anyway, you donät have to send me so soon if you are sending me something else you can send them with those.´I have no hurry sowing them.
