Phone call today!!!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I don't have anyone else to tell so I thought I'd tell my friends here. I got a phone call this morning from a resume that I had sent in to a Doctor's office for a part time receptionist position. I have an interview on Friday at 4:30pm. I'm just happy that someone called me!!! :)

Cool, girlfriend! I'm excited for you! Come on out here & join us "Over-the-Hill" gang members that just won't quit! I am a firm believer that if we don't stay busy & physical, our life will be shorter. Of course, I would gladly give up the three hrs a day I spend commuting to "play in the dirt". Congrats! Keep us informed!

Good luck Susan'

Susan, that is great news! Even if you don't get it, that's one more "not" eliminated and one closer to the "yes". The more you interview, the easier it becomes. But I will miss you when you have to go to bed so you can be up for work the next day. I like the part time aspect, for selfish reasons.

Awesome! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Susan, remember when you take messages, to say the phone number back to the person who gave it to you ... to make sure you wrote it down right. I was a receptionist about 4 years ago, and that's my main tip. And of course, to answer the phone in a fairly bubbly way. They always like that. My other interviewing tips are located here: http://trackstar.hprtec.org:80/main/track_text.php3?track_id=64130&nocache=881492999

Thanks Granny for the advice. I've worked in a Dr.'s office before and I'm a certified medical office technician. I worked for the Commander's office on the military base in Germany as a secretary and was the receptionist at the adult education center at the Joint Vocational School and temporary receptionist at Bayer for a couple of months. Other than having been off of work for just a bit over a year now and being nervous about that, I think I have the receptionist skills down pretty well.........LOL
Thanks for being there for me!!!!

best of luck...we are praying for you...!

Hey, Susan...you're so good with the notepads and such, I was thinking that might become a full-time business for you. :) Well, I suppose if you get a full-time job, you can still create everything we want (I know you've had orders from a number of us here at DG) as a side-line business. BTW, I can't wait to get my notepads from you. They're going to make such great gifts:) Thanks so much.

Susan, good luck, with your experience and skills they would be outta their minds to pass you up.
Keep your chin up, and have a positive attitude. Try to convey the message that you would be a great addition to their staff (and darned lucky to get you!)

I'll let you know what happened tomorrow when I get home. Remember it's not until 4:30pm so don't get too anxious too early...........LOL

ok, went to the interview, that sure was short, lasted about 5 minutes, maybe. They interviewed about a dozen people and will narrow it down to 4. If I'm one of the 4 then I will get called on Monday for another interview on Wednesday. The job is partime only 2 days a week but it's a job nonetheless. Anyway, I'm not going to get my hopes up since I always end up really dissappointed in the end. I'll just wait and see and send out more resumes :)

Good luck! Sometimes it's hard to judge from the interview what they are going to do, so don't fret too much about it.

Susan I have been on interviewing panels the last 3 months, the last one being yesterday I hope . Our office has been so short staffed and so many staffing changes made that its been about to kill us trying to keep all the work done that has to be done. But I thought I would share a few things with you that might help in your interviews. These are the things that impressed me the most with the people we interviewed. Go in with a happy cheery smile and look the interviewer in the eye don't be doing everything to avoid eye contact. The ones that indicated they would be team players and willing to help out other co-workers even it wasn't there job really added a plus to my vote for them. Be prepared to tell what you have to offer to the position , what would make you an asset to the company? Also are you self motivated where you would get things done and meet deadlines without having constant supervision that's another big plus. Education and experience mean allot but when your interviewing lots of people and they all have the same qualifications you look for these other things . I hope this will help you some. P.S. got my fingers crossed you get the job.

thanks Mystic. I definately kept eye contact and had a smile on my face. I guess that's one good thing of me being nervous sometimes because I tend to smile allot when I'm nervous.........LOL. I just hope they call me on Monday :)
