Native Americans

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Does anyone know the name of a tribe of Native Americans that lived in Indiana? Were there more than one? My Great Grandmother was Native American and I am trying to find somewhere to start finding out about her.

HoniBee, have you tried the web site www.accessgenealogy.com/native/ ? I am also looking for my part Indian great grandmother and great grandfather not Indian. It surprised me how many things are online, such as actual lists of people who were relocated, intermarried and other events. I don't remember all of the sites I visited, but I did find a lot of lists of tribes. If you don't find anything there, I will try to help you look for the lists.

Here's another good one, HoniBee: http://www.nativeweb.com/ They have links to all the tribes/nations as well as geneology links. One day I'll be able to spend the time to do geneaology with a vengeance, but for now I settle for little anecdotal things I find and reading up on migrations (forced and voluntary) to help me find my Native ancestors. They're on both sides, so I'll have a bit of looking to do! It IS fun, though, isn't it?!

One of my foremother (no idea how many generations ago) was a gypsy.. :) I would really like to know more about my "foreparents". =>
