Virus Warning

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

My ISP has once again sent me a message informing me they stopped a virus. It was W32/magistr.a@mm, I think. I didn't recognize the name of the sender, jcrickman.

Harford County, MD(Zone 6b)

I received a notice also Aimee and do not recognize the sender.I'm so glad the ISP's are now scanning the mail so it doesn't have a chance to reach us.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I know the snow white one from hahaha came through mine again yesterday. Today I did get a weird one that came from Jerry Brickman titled is rude. Delete, delete. LOL

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Ut OH you all,

My DH's name is Jerry Brickman and his addy is jbrickman@socal.rr.com. We are not sending this out, our computer must be doing it on it's own.
He mentioned this morning that we got a warning about a virus too. I am sorry about this and hope it doesn't affect to many of you. We did scan with our Norton also.
If you continue to receive this from him/us, please let us know so we can do something more, ok.

So sorry about this problem. We are still newbies when it comes to computer problems.
Donna

Thanks for the heads up, Aimee! Don't worry about it being your fault, SoCal! Many viruses go into your address book and send themselves out to everyone in there on their own before the owner even knows it's there. I'd e-mail all the people in your address book and let them know what happened, though ~ tell them you haven't personally sent out any attachments, so don't open any from you.

I make a habit of not opening any attachments unless I know who it's from and it was expected. If I get something from a friend and I didn't know it was coming, I e-mail the friend asking about it and check it against these sites while I'm waiting:

I think if more people would "clean' all those names off forwards then these visuses couldn't get through so much....and use BCC more! Sorry my PET PEEVE!!! Jo

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

Mine too JO. Don't folks realize how easy it is to send BCC? I have told the people who send messages to me filled with other people's email addresses how easy it is and they still don't do it. I know they send my address out to all their "friends" out there in cyber space and goodness only knows where I wind up in the long haul. I alway clean up all the cute or informative stuff I send on and never send anyone's email addresses. Man, when people send 15 or 20 forwards (don't you hate those?)it is amazing how many email addresses are right there for anyone to abuse! GRRRRRRR!!!!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

It bears repeating, if you sent me something to forward, I don't care how cute it is, I deleted it. I hate chain things, will not participate, and am annoyed when they arrive. Over the weekend, I received the same one from about 15 people, and I didn't look at one of them. I have enough problems with this eBeast, without taking the chance on getting more from those impersonal messages. I even ignore my own mother on forwards!

Crossville, TN

I don't mind the forwards if they are cute and funny...or informative...and if I like them enough to forward them on, and they say "forward this to 10 friends I CUT that part off...that's the way to KEEP those 10 friends!! Jo

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I got it last night too. My server stopped it. Donna its not your fault it happens.Run your virus scan and make sure you have run the updates on it. I still get the haha one to from time to time too.
