Woman's moustache

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

Ladies, This is the hardest subject to approach...having been a hair stylist for over 20 years, It is VERY difficult to tell you... Lady? "can I take care of that unsightly liphair for you???? " I once had a woman tell me..." Those are my Kitty Whiskers and I like them."WELL???? guess what ???? It looks awful!!!!!!! Now there is a great product out there for you to use in your private home called Sally Hanson's facial hair remover. For under $4.oo. you too can have a upper lip smooth as a babies bottom! And its GREAT for your self esteeme too! PLEASE. Do a patch test before using. Apply it to your inner elbow and wait 10 minutes. See, if you get a reaction... It explains that on the tube. I am not trying to 'plug' a product, just that this is a hard subject to approach and some women don;t have the access to waxing... and if one person feels better about them selves from trying this . it was well worth it.

Crossville, TN

Mingsmimi, my DD, another Mimi, does my "menapausal chin" with some stuff that cost about $20.00 for a little jar...works like the Beauty shop wax job, but you don't heat it...I forget the name of it. Does a good job, but may try this, and save some money!

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

I'll tell you what.... I have seen skin troubles from a product called Nads....and I know If thats what is is, be careful. This is a great product, and you can find it at Walmart and a tube lasts a long time. I just apply it with a q~tip and I leave it on for 10 minutes. Directions state 8 I believe.. Trial and error on timing. And Like I said. This is only my opinion. and It is a very hard subject to talk about. Alot of women don;t even realize this product is out there and how easy it is to use and how good they will fell about them selves afterwards.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I tried Nair and burned my face, waxing hurts, but no scars

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I just noticed several blond hairs on my upperlip, the funny thing is that they grow out blond but the tips are dark. I have never bleached or anything like that, and they are definately courser than regular facial hair. I also have one very course hair on my chin. What's with that? I have been plucking them with tweezers....

Also...another funny thing - hair related, that mingsmimi might know....I have naturally blond hair, but for the past several years, I have noticed a couple of very course pitch black hairs in the front of my bangs.....and I have plucked them out too, and they have a black root...but sooo black, coal black...and I keep waiting for my whole head of hair to turn dark, but it hasnt, just have those few pitch black ones....What's that all about?

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

*crestedchik, You really might want to look into this product. Waxing hurts if its done too much of an area at once , and if the temp. of the wax is up to high. Think about it anyway
*pebble, Those chin hairs are the worst!get used to them. At the jaw line too! keep your trusty tweezers handy. After 40 its tweeze~tweeze ~tweeze! now. when I was a baby. My hair was all black. fell out and turned blonde, Then. I started to color around age 15. Highlights and all that . I am still a bottle baby. Won;t quit that! BUT. I DO know what you are talking about with those black ones. I have 2 , right at my bangs hair line. They are thicker than any other hair on me, and I tweeze them out and they grow back as long as the rest of my hair does. I swear, over nite!!!! but, now.....one of them has turned pure white!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

LOL Ming, I always thought that since my hair is so blonde, it would just fade to white, maybe those course black ones will take over....

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

OH NO!!!!!!! Lets hope not!

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

mings, can you use the Sally Hanson remover on your eyebrows????????? Or do you know of any good remover for eyebrows I get so tired of tweezing!!!
Meems

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Don't tell anyone but I use an little electric razor. Shhh

Auburn, NY(Zone 5b)

I tweeze as well, but I swear if I let them go, I'd probably have a good beard. I'm going to try your suggestion mings, because I am getting tired of all that plucking...

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

Meens~~~ I know, it must say some where on there do not use near the eye. If you would get any in it. You may lose your vision! BUT> might I sugguest that you go to a salon and get your brows shapped maybe once every 2 months or so and just keep up with it with your tweezers??? That way... you will get that shaped arch in them you are looking for. If you are hurting for $ , go to the beauty schools. In MY town. they offer beauty services at a reduced rate since they are students and need the practice.
Honibee!!!!!! Put that razor down this instant!!!!! That will only make things worse. You go get yourself a tube and you will be Very plesantly suprised! PLEASE! There will be time enough for that once you are" in the home"!
Sands, let me know what happens. ! I am interested to hear.
AND LADIES!!!!!! Please remember. There is always electrolysis. We've come a long way baby! Self esteme is to precious/ Do it for yourself if not for any one else. Take care of your facial hair. I had to see it badly on this one lady just this evening and I was wishing I could help her. I tried. I waxed her chin and jaw line for her before her so got married. I had a VERY hard time telling her I wanted to do this for her. I did it for her for free before the wedding ~ I told her that she would feel better for the photos and for greeting her guests. She said okay. But. that has been 2 children ago for her son. ...... She just never kept it up/. She is a Beautyful lady. Early 70"s Very active. I just don't Think She can see those hairs as well as her bridge cards.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Now you mean to tell me the lovely black mustache and gotee I am sporting is not desireable? HMMMM maybe that is why DH has been spending so much time on the femenine products aisles lately!

Seriously though this facial hair is the pits! I tried waxing and had a burned face for weeks! Then I tried those strips you jerk off and that left me a bloody mess as does tweezing. I tried several dilapidory creams including Sallye Hansons and developed rosacea and an allergic reaction that caused my glands to swell to the size of grapfruit. Now I shave twice a day and still look like a man with five o'clock shadow! Why is it that while every hair on top is turning white the mustach and chin seem to be jet black? Now I am about to become the bearded lady for the circus cause nothing seems to work and electrollicis is way beyond my budget! Now that ya all know my hairy secrets will ya still play with me?

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

hummmmm . I would consult a doctor to see what they say. Don;t understand the developing rosacea.....I would think that one had NOTHING to do with the other. NOTHING!!! How does a facial hair cream cause that ???? Think you would of gotten that no matter what. Have you checked in to electrolysis?? It all comes down to one thing...."HOW IMPORTANT IS IT??" You do NOT have to get it done all at once. You can do sessions..... One section at a time. Tell family members you want gift certificates towards it. ......I know, at the salon. I ALWAYS tell my ladies they can tell hubby to get them a gift certificate for christmas . birthdays or what ever and they can use it on WHAT EVER they want. ~~ Don;t understand being left a" bloody mess" from tweezing Or the strips......Unless you are English and that is just an expression........ Did you do a patch test with the creams???? I would think if you had the troubles you say with that product, you could of consulted a good lawyer....... That too makes no sence. So, you are saying you got Rosacea PLUS glands the size of grapefruit from using their product????? WOW!!!!! I would for SURE get a hold of a good lawyer!!!!!!! You then COULD afford electrolysis then!!!!!!!!!!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

The Rosacea is not related to the use of the product but does make the skin more sensitive and sore. It is also the reason for the bleeding. The glands are directly related to an alergic reaction to the product which I was foolish enough to use with out doing the patch test first. I am actually afraid to try the electrolcis now that I finally have the rosacea almost under control. Bleaching is not an option as it will aggrevate the skin problems. So ya all are gonna just have to be glad I don't have a digi cam set up here and you don't have to see me in my hairy spendor! I may quit shaving it just to see how long it will grow...just kidding! I really do get self concious about it at times.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

You made it sound as if you got the Rosacea as a Direct result of the cream.AND the swollen glands as a direct result of the cream..... no matter how many times I re ~read your posting. I keep coming up with the same statement. Hope that doesn;t scare off people that really are interested in the product. OR maybe I just can;t read!!!!!!! **ALWAYS DO A PATCH TEST FIRST> **

Got feedback today from a woman , she and her daughter are both using a script cream called VANIQA~http://www.vaniqa.com/ it has been on the market for awhile now. $50. She is 71 so daughter would be around 47ish I imagine. Daughter shaved face 2 times a day before starting this program in january. Has noticeable results and is very pleased. Hey, Zanymuse: I, too, have rosacea! It seems like the great mystery condition. Few people know what it is, even some of the people who have it! None of the doctors seem to know what causes it or what to prescribe for treatment. A mild case makes one look rosy cheeked, but when it gets out of hand, one looks like an chronic drunk! In fact, W.C.Field's big strawberry nose was a result of rosacea! Since we both have it, and we both see humor in life, maybe that's a common denominator for rosacea...excess humor to the blood vessels of the face?

As for facial hair..so far, so good, but I expect to sprout a mustach any day now. But, I have a plan. I am going to wax it. My husband already bought some mustach wax, and it even came with a little comb! I can't wait!

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

So glad all you gals have such a great sence of humor !!!!! For many , it is a very VERY upsetting problem.....Good thing you all have a plan. Guess my job is done here.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Hey, Mingsmimi: Didn't mean to make your concerns any less important, nor your interest in helping others with concerns. I guess some of us just aren't as concerned as others. That's what makes us all such interesting blossoms in Dave's garden...the contrast.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

be glad you haven;t the trouble. If you had waxed as many faces as I have in the past 20 years. Was hoping to help atleast one person that has trouble with this.But. Like I said. take what you like and leave the rest. You ae lucky not to have the trouble.

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

mingsmimi, I don't have the moustache yet but probely will someday so thanks as I will be looking for something so I won't have to use tweezers.(boy that would hurt)

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

do we all have nice, clean lips for summer/???? :)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL! going to check right now!!!

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

lol
was doing some weeding out of threads I was watching. andfound this.
Sure wish there were little boxes to check off the list instead of going back and forth

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Mingsmimi, yes I have nice clean lips, but I do have an unsightly zit on my nose! No kidding, I really really do. I guess I just have to wait for it to go away, huh?

Sorry, but I was reading this thread for the first time and looking at the computer screen down my swelled up nose and I couldn't resist posting. A zit on the nose is the worst possible place I think, 'cuz it's so noticable to everyone whom you speak to.

~~!POP***

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

LOL! I edited my last post to read CLEAN lips rather than CLAN lips. Major difference I think.

I did pop the zit, and now it's just a scab on the end of my nose, which makes it easier to see from my viewpoint, so I think it's more noticable to everyone else too. But, this too shall pass. Reading this thread for the first time made me look closer down my nose. LOL

I didn't mean to hijack your thread.

Ugh! ROTF! I was just going to mention Vaniq, having heard about it in an article a while back. I'm a plucker, still.

This reminds me...In health class in high school, our teacher asked who knew where the puss goes when you squeeze a zit on your face. The answer, of course, is deeper into your skin. But this one kid volunteered, "I know! All over the bathroom mirror!"

Aaaaaaaargh.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

plucking is for chicken feathers.
Wax! or cream! or try that stuff mentioned above. Ithink you left out a few letters. my one lady is on it. she loves it.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

My son had a huge zit on his nose last week, and I urged him to put iodine on it before he went to bed, I had tried it not too long ago and was amazed that the zit had dissapeared by morning. For his zit it took a couple of days, but it did take that unsightly redness and puffiness away that surrounded the zit and made it stick out even more.
