Dave,
Whatever happened to this feature that you were working on in November? I think this might be the answer for a previous thread.

"whose online".......
I actually liked that feature
I never got to experience it. It was gone before I heard about it. I do like the buddy list feature of AOL, but I don't know if this worked the same way or not.
Didn't this get sort of voted down because some of our members felt uncomfortable with the idea? Hmmm at least that is what the swiss chees I call my brain seems to almost sort of maybe think happened...but I am almost 100% sure I think that it may be the case...
Zany, I think you're right. If you check out the voting booth results, there's a link to past votes and my memory is telling me you're correct - there should be a vote and some comments there.
It does seem sort of creepy in a way, but I don't know what anyone would do with the knowledge that I ~was~ online.
Inda, we could wave "hi" at each other, LOL.
Yes, I suppose we could! LOL
I guess I would feel neutral about a feature like that. It wouldn't bother me really, but I can see where some folks might be uncomfortable with it.
It's true, I did write and implement this feature, but a lot of people really didn't like it. It became a big mess, and just wasn't worth keeping around.
So, I took it back down and actually forgot all about it. I think it's good enough to see that when you see on the homepage that someone has just posted, or has just added a rating to the watchdog, or added something to the PDB, you can know that they are currently online. :)
dave
That's true........true, of both features, I think.
"eyes"
In a previous post I asked if it could be done like the birthday...a place to check if we WANTED to be shown on line...would be nice to know if someone is around that would like to chat on one of the chat programs...MyFamily.com has a built in chat room that you can opt to show your self online or not...and can go into a chat there...have no idea what it entails in cost or labor...but it's nice. Only those that are members of our family site can get into it. Jo
roadrunner i've seen that too and it is cool...that could make everyone happy as you have the option....don't know if it would be worth the effort to install such a system here...myself, i post when i can in bewteen lessons or ironing and don't care who's on...i feel lucky if i happen to find a friend i know..otherwise the people are just friends i have not met...one thing i do not like is any program that encourages "cliques" where people only want to talk to certain "buddies"...it could be lonely for new people..i've seen that on one site where new people are always left out.
Mummy...I'm rather old to be calling you mummy...LOL....I think most of DG's are very good about making "newbies" feel at home, but the newbie has to just jump in and get comfortabe with all of us too....It is harder for some. No one NOW belives that I am a VERY shy person....until I get to know someone...Now I'm all over this site like flies on buttermilk!!! Jo
