Hi, I am Roz, and I am 56 years old. I married my high school sweetheart; dated through high school and married soon as graduation. We have four children, two girls and two boys and seven grandchildren five girls and two boys. I thoroughly enjoy the grandkids and I did my kids, only it is much more fun now that I don't have to worry about the MAINTENANCE of them, like manners, teeth, grades, just get to have fun with them. I retired 15 years ago due to a serious eye disease, causing considerable loss of vision, but I pretty much do what I want to do, except drive a car and haven't been able to figure out a way to do that without taking a chance of killing everybody on the road. I have become a brug - a - holic and enjoy all kinds of plants. I really like the tropicals. We have a little Silky terrier named Rosie and a big while lab named Moe. We like to travel some in a motor home, but don't get to as much as we'd like cause my husband, Billy, is not retired and probably won't ever! He has a plumbing business and our two sons also work there, so we can get away for a few days, but not a lot. This business is like his baby, and I doubt he'll ever completely retire. I have truly enjoyed Dave's and I have learned so much since I have been here. The good thing is everybody on this site seems to geniunely care about each other and is so willing to share not only knowledge, but plants as well. The folks here are about the quickest and wittiest I have ever seen. Roz

BEWARE!! FUN AHEAD!! Jo

I really am going to try to go to the Tn, round up. Lots depends on when my grand daughters from Orlando are here . I get to have them about 3 weeks in the summer, and they are getting older so have things to do in the summer softball, cheerleading camp, etc. Used to I got them as soon as school was out. Gosh, it is sure good to hear from so many people from everywhere. Hello, Northern Ireland, Hello Mathiston, hello Blountsville, Hello , everybody!

Crossville, TN

Roz....I know how it is that the Grandchildren come first...my Grandson moved from Orlando, and we followed him from Homosassa, Fl to AZ the next year! He will be 7 on March 1st...and that's why I'm going back home on Feb. 26th!! Your GK might enjoy the trip to TN too! There will be other teen's and pre-teens there...and babies... Jo

Hi Mary! I came across DGs last summer & have been addicted ever since!

My whole family is into gardening (grandparents, parents, siblings). I was consumed by other things until I participated in a seed exchange last Fall. That's all it took & now I'm lasagne gardening around my fence (60' & then some)!

I've never found such a nice group of people in all my life than here at DGs. I don't know if it's where I've been, or that there's a hidden "nice" law associated with people who garden. Either way, it's something to which I look forward each day :)

Age is not quite half of eighty

DH is wonderful man but not a garden guy :(

I submitted my Survivor tape application one week ago :)

Morph is my alias for my best buddy, a four footed guy who is a Lab/Chow/Sheltie mix. The only Sheltie in him, though, is the one he ate!

I work part time as I.T. systems analyst (computer jargon)

I LOVE, I mean REALY LOVE dogs!!! We have 3 & DH won't tolerate any more. Two are Italian Greyhounds (Pixel & Sonic) & the other is Morph

I wish I could train & run in the Iditarod, but DH won't go further North than Zone 5.

Canada is my favorite vacation spot and we go every summer up into Ontario through the U.P. of Michigan. I'd love to live in Canada, but husband prefers warmer areas.

About five years ago, on the Friday before Christmas (when I had just started a two week holiday vacation), a "yewt" took me out during a coed, social soccer game. Well, maybe not too social when I think about my compound tib/fib fracture that resulted from his bull dozing. What a way to spend my two week vacation!

C'est moi! Regards...

Hello Mary and all at DG

Can't believe i'm just over half way to a century, must have blinked, but have lovely son, daughter, 3 granddaughters and a grandson to prove it. Then i've never taken age seriously anyway - people are people. Put my money where my mouth is and married someone 21 years older.
Was unlucky that my husband began to suffer from alzheimer's about 20 years ago (not just a disease of the elderly), so life's been very strange. I cared for him at home til about 3 years ago, when he needed absolutely 24 hour care - too much on your own!

So i'm now embarking on life no. 2. Though he still needs me to an extent i'm now beginning to enjoy being able to do the things i want - takes some getting used to after all that time!
Have always been into plants. Also wildlife - have licences to work with bats and dormice and spend a lot of time outdoors.
Pets - only a tropical fish tank now as don't want to be responsible for looking after anything more demanding - need my freedom, but in the past almost everything - labradors, ferrets, a horse, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils......all the childrens' of course, hehe.
My Mum's close by and at 91 still does all her housework and enjoys maintaining her beautiful garden, so i'm hoping that's in the genes!!

Hair dark brown (celtic blood) greying now.
Think that's it
Oh, thanks for telling me about DG Mark(the bat connection)

Baa what I really meant is where are the youths? we have Evert a teenager then there is a sudden jump to +-30. I wish I knew what I know now when I was young like Evert.

I looked at my R ficaria and there are only a couple which I can divide right now. I'll have to go out with pen and paper in the morning to write down what they are.

Mark

Mark

If you knew what you know now back in your teens where would all the fun of finding out be? ;) I know what you mean, there are few in between our ages here.

Do you want to wait until after flowering for the R.f? Might be easier, Coppernob is already flowering away here

Alzheimers in a partner (or anyone close) must be really difficult to cope with, but I guess sometimes you just get on with things and don't realise how much you do in a day. I'm glad you still enjoy life :)

Welcome, Mary...

Mentally, I'm between 12 and 27... physically, well, a might bit older ;-)

Widowed, wow, several years past a decade ago; happily remarried for some more years over a decade. To DDs, 17 (in a few weeks) and 15, and one DS, 11 (ok, husband often qualifies for being one of the children, but for the moment, I'll classify him as one of the adults :-)

Married a Georgia Boy the first time around, myself, and my DD's are both Georgia natives... and while my DH was born in CA, his family's from AR & TN, and he was raised up in TN for a while. Guess there's just something I like about them Southern Boys ;-)

Take care, all.

Hi Mary, welcome to Daves! My name is Julie. I am 32. I have 2 boys ages 7 & 4. I am a stay at home mom. I've been married for 7 years (yeah, you did the math right! You should have seen my catholic wedding - I was 7 1/2 months along!)We bought this house a little over a year ago and I am still working on the yard and gardens. Nothing fancy in the way of gardens, just a few borders & a veggie patch(for now). When the kids are older, I don't plan on having grass to mow:)

That's what I always ask people when they ask my age. LOL
Been married 48 years, we have 4 children, 7 Grand children and 3 Great Grand children. We have lived all over. DH retired from USMC in 1967 and in 1982 come back to the mountains and built our house. I do enjoy DG. and can't wait for spring to get here and get back in the flower beds.
