Hey Dave, Just a Thought (wav files)

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Was wondering if it may sometime be possible to upload .wav files. Would be interesting to hear all the wonderful voices that go with the wonderful personalities on this site! I've been adding voice to my pics, at my age it helps with identification, you know a pic of my husband that says, "It's Steve"! Just before senility sets in LOL!
Candee

Sure, I think it wouldn't be too difficult for me to program this. I would, of course, want to know if others out there would also be interested in the concept. Everyone knows how to make pictures ready for uploading, but how many people know how to make a wav file?

I don't know how, but I can learn, and I think this is a great idea.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I know how, think it may be a neat idea, although I don't have a good phone voice, I guess........LOL

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Tell it to someone who doesn't know you! We here know you are a singer!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I think it's a great idea, but I would need instructions. I also need to buy a microphone. Soon I hope. I say go for it. I'll figure it out.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Great Idea but "LOL" me and minischnuz are deaf , he he he That will be nice do that.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

It would be nice to be able to post sounds...It would be great for the wildlife forum since we could post bird calls and birdsongs to help others ID their visitors. And it would be wonderful for the Plants Database if we could have the botanical and common names pronounced. My Garden Encyclopedia CD-ROM has this and it's great for getting those names into your brain, LOL. :)

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

As long as we have aaaaaaaall the alternatives for the scientific names that's a great idea gw. As who's to say which pronunciation is right LOL - none of us were around to speak latin!

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Redrose - are you really deaf?

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

=) Well, I am hard of hearing and talk well and if I take off hearing aid of course deaf so, MINISCHNUZ are deaf.

Are you surpised???

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Yes I am a bit surprised.. I never have thought that someone here would be deaf/blind or something.. :/

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

=D .... I was wondering to see if you see any deaf over there with sign language??

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Of course.. we have news to the deafs with sign language in TV1.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

LOL Aimee, I may be a singer in a chorus but on the phone you can really tell my accent, especially when I get nervous, which I do when I talk to people I don't know in person, otherwise I'm alright :)

I can rattle on here all day long but when it comes to actually speaking..........I'm usually speechless.........LOL

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

My head's spinning, Redrose! LOL - that's so cool. Susan - I didn't really notice an accent with you at all. Don't be self-conscious...Accents are cool, anyway. :)

I apologise for the off topic post

Redrose, they are 31 and 26 in CA and 25 in DE and 30 in CT

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Amen to that, Baa! Just think of how different we all sound...After I'd lived in Ohio for a while, I'd go back to visit family in Illinois near Chicago and people would say I sounded like a hick. And yet some friends I know from southern states say I sound very northern. Go figure! Variety is the spice of life - it's fun! :)

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

...what happened to the wav.....

"eyes"

hijacked. I was about to move this thread to the chatting forum. :)

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

no kidding....;)

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Sry Dave and Eyes, guess the .wav got out of hand, let's get back to it, any progress or just more input needed?

Well, nobody actually said they would use it. They all said it'd be fun, but first they would need a microphone and then learn to use it.

I think the world is not yet ready to have voice be as common as pictures.

Dave

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

.....'specially us little old grandmas....:o)

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Okay Dave, it was "just a thought"

(Zone 5a)

This is one Grandmere that would love to learn how to use it. I was trying to buy a program that would work so I wouldn't have to type. I bought one but sent it back, because it was something that AOL was trying to unload. It was out dated even by it's own company, I couldn't find help for it on their web site lol.

I would use it, I have a microphone/headset. I think it would be pretty neat. I'm sure there are enough of us who know how to teach the others who don't know how, to use it too

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Just a few of us Dave, maybe sometime when you have nothing to do LOL!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

It would be nice to have the option.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I know of one member that hasn't posted that sends me voice mail with her email. I would also use it. Sounds like it would be something that would become popular as it is used by more members.
