DS and I need some help soon. We are working on his powerpoint presentation that's due tomorrow and we need to know how to make the copyright sign on the computer. For instance, if we are saying Davesgarden, and need to acknowledge that its a copyright, how do we make that little circle c? I know it's alt something, but I'm wasting tons of time trying to figure out what comes after the alt. I would have put this in the computer forum, but we have a deadline and it's already almost 11:30 pm here. This forum seems to be more often checked. Anybody awake that can help us? We would really appreciate it.
Joan
Need some info
Joan some programs will automatically make the sign if you bracket the c like this (c)
however there are a load of symbols hidden on the keyboard. the copyright sign is number 0169 but I cant remember which key to hold down to activate it.
Mark
It's Alt.
© yep! it worked!

Thank you all so much. We didn't get this figured out last night, but I think we will get another chance to fix it tonight.
Joan
Could I ask if anyone knows how to do "registered trade mark"
I don't need it now but did some time ago and others might benefit from knowing how.
Thanks,
Theresa
™ is alt 0153. ® is alt 0174; Is that what you want? You can go to programs, accessories, system tools and choose "character map", to find all the little keystrokes to make these and other symbols. I have Windows 98, and this was in a different place in 95.

Thankyou Aimee.. I'm on 2000pro so I'll try looking there and if not I'll let you know where it is when do find it. Thanks again!
I couldn't find it on my computer ~ it kept saying it wasn't installed yet and I'd have to do that off my Windows '98 CD which is God knows where ;-), so I found this character map on the web: http://www.kelseypub.com/irc/charmap.shtml Pretty handy and fun little thing! ¼ Ú § æ Ð ÷ ® ¢ £ ¿ :-)
I found it under system tools on 2000 but all of them don't work for example the symbol for female (you know the circle with the cross throught it) won't but some others will.. am I doing something wrong?

I'm sorry, I have tried this before, and tried it again. Dumb question coming, be warned. Do you hold all the keys down at once? one at a time? this should be so easy I'm sure, but if you don't know, you have to ask, right?
hold down the alt then hit the others in order then let go of the alt key
okay, for some reason it isn't working. I do have the character map on here, is it possible I'm just too dumb to get this? using 2000pro
tiG..do you have your number lock on? (just checking)
Also I've just discovered it only works on the number pad, not the numbers on the top row of your keyboard. Could that be it?
well, phooey, this laptop doesn't have a number pad. I'll try again when (if) I get my other computer up, thanks Shoe!
