New posts now marked

Well, I had to add this feature in real quick this morning. When you visit the forum, it will now tell you whether each individual thread has a New posting since your last visit to that thread.

This is tracked on a per-thread basis. For now, all threads are marked as new for everybody, since I just started tracking.

so, don't be confused. It's not that there are suddenly thousands of new threads, it's just that the system doesn't know that you've already seen them.

Over the next few days, as you view threads, the system will get more familiar with you and will respond the way you want it to.

Dave, Silly question. As I usually more of a browser than a poster, and usually don't add comments. Is there any way that I can still browse, and not see a "yes" by the new post box? I have problems remembering which posts I've already looked at (via your mailings and post updates), and then I come here and reread things. Just wondering. Kathy
P.S. I cannot believe how LARGE this site is becoming! You should be proud to have started such a wonderful thing...you know we all appreciate your hard work!

Hi Kathy,

I'm sorry, but right now you're stuck with the "Yes"es. I didn't make it configurable - it does the checks for all members.

Maybe one day I can make it configurable via preferences, but that's a longer ways off since my TODO is still fairly long (isn't it always?)

I'll add it to the bottom of my TODO so it can begin to journey up. ;-)

guessing things have changed,or AGAIN I misunderstand...

I 'Look' I 'post'to open threads. Only time Forum states 'YES' is when I start a NEW thread.

Doing something wrong???

It doesn't show it is new if you posted the newest message.
