Recognizing "Extra" Special DG Members?

Hi Dave,

I had started a thread about how to begin & shape a flower garden fence. I received soooooo much help and so many wonderful ideas & suggestions that it got me thinking. Have you ever thought about providing special recognition to DG members that are so incredibly helpful & generous in so many ways? I don't know if you would take a poll for this or perhaps keep an ongoing "vote for someone special" forum or post a scheduled update based on some other method. But, I have received so much great advice here that I thought I would mention this as an "idea box" type of message. Maybe it's already here and I just haven't found it yet which is quite possible!

Last year (probably around March?) Dave put together a DG favorites poll. It was a two-part process. The first part art was open-ended nominations for various categories: favorite gardening magazine, TV show (I think), etc. There was also a nomination for most helpful DG member.

The second part of the poll was the actual voting. Dave compiled a "short list" in each category and we got to cast our vote from among the most popular nominations.

I'd love the opportunity to once again recognize some of the folks here who have helped me learn and grow as a gardener this past year. And vote for my favorite garden show, garden magazine, etc.

Hmmm...maybe a good idea for the Voting Booth, eh? I like your idea of including garden shows, magazines,etc Vols.

Oh, that's a neat idea! I joined in April, so I missed that the first time around. It'd be neat to have others' opinions of gardening magazines and resources like that, too - like a garden watchdog for other garden stuff.

Oh, yes, that's a good idea, Gardenwife. That is to add a "DG Watchdog" for incredibly helpful members. Do you think Dave reads these posts? I also like the idea of adding a quarterly or monthly Voting Booth for this. Alas, it is Dave's site & I was only trying to suggest that there are members here who are destined to be angels. Yes, we are all special, but those who share their experience so graciously and repeatedly and without hesitation that I thought it would be nice to somehow give them recognition.

Morph, I think the posts are hardwired directly into Dave's brain. I don't know how on earth one would be able to keep up with it all, but Dave pops in often enough, and in enough different places, that I don't think he misses anything here.
