It sure is remarkable! DG has certainly come a long way in the last year.

So, who's going to start the pool on the exact date/time our 1,000th member for the month will sign up? I'm thinking tomorrow, but I haven't thought much about exactly when...

I don't know how many it will take to make 1000 this month, but I have been going through every company and requesting catalogs. I'm through M right now. I'm driving both the mail lady and my DH nuts! LOL! If they don't have a place to request a catalog, I email them and ask if they have one, and if they do, would they consider sending me ONE free to look over and consider ordering from. I've had lots of replies telling me that they will send me one and many ask me how I heard of them. I email them the link to the gardenwatchdog. I figure if they are legit, they will like us to consider ordering from them and post positive things about them. If they are not legit, they won't reply back to me. I'm ignoring the ones who want me to send $$ just to look over what they have. I think that's like charging a cover charge at a local greenhouse. NO, I'm not going to do that. Send me ONE, and I'm only asking for ONE, free catalog. If I like what I see, I'll order and they may get a repeat customer. If I don't order, then I don't expect them to send me more catalogs. I'm not asking to be put on their mailing list so it costs them lots of money. I'm only asking for ONE catalog to look over and consider. Am I wrong? Is this causing too much of a load for the gardenwatchdog? Please tell me. I'm thinking these types of things may be causing the major influx of members. I'll quit doing that until I hear whether it's a good thing for DG and gardenwatchdog or not.

JoanJ of course it's a good thing for DG. The more the merrier!!!! Don't worry about the mailman either, mine don't like me either this time of year I get at least 5 or 6 catalogs everyday!!!!!!!!

Joan that is one of the valuable functions of the Watchdog. I don't know if I'd request a catalog from EVERY company :) but when I was adding all those companies, I certainly requested many catalogs that caught my eye.

My mailman just accepts that I'm the "plant lady" because there's almost always a catalog, an envelope of seeds, or a box of plants coming (or going!) And I use a small rural post office to mail my stuff, and they know me on sight there, too!

It's actually been a nice way to get to know these USPS employees. They take an interest in my plant/seed trading, so I feel confident they take good care of my packages because they know what's in there.

Tee-hee, the folks at the Georgetown post office think I'm the plant lady!
