Something is wrong with my color

I was reading earlier, then had to get off, and when I came back minutes later, the pages were all dim looking. The color is normal except for the type, but it looks like it was typed on a worn out carbon. Blurry. Is it my equipment, or maybe the server?

But it's only on DG, everything else is fine. I am going to turn everything off and let it sleep awhile.

My husband just put in a new PC for us & there's a drop shadow on several key items. But, it's a good thing for my eyes as the drop shadow helps clarify the type. Doubt this is the same, but thought I'd offer as a remote possibility.

Okay, I let it take a long nap, then it wouldn't browse at all. So I called support again (they had assured me it wasn't their "issue") and we took out and re-entered tcp/ip. So I'm able to get here again, but my messages are in light green where I've been before. Grrrr, this e-beast will drive me around the bend yet! I'm not sure about shadow keys, are they marked in some special way? Gads, I feel so dumb when I use this thing, and I really don't think I'm retarded! And the last time I renewed my dr. license, I didn't even have to have glasses.

My DH suggests that it is either the video card or your monitor. Your video card COULD be integrated into your motherboard. If it's integrated into your motherboard, his quote (excuse my French) was that you're pretty much "screwed". But, maybe your video card is independent from the motherboard in which case you can just swap it out for a new one.

To determine which problem it is, try hooking your monitor onto another computer. If it works, your problems are with your video card. Or, try another monitor on your computer & if the other monitor works, the problem is with your monitor & not the video card.

Sorry that you're having PC issues. My worst fate in life since I spend almost equal time on them & in the garden. Each is good to keep me occupied when the other is not in working condition.

Thanks, Morph. This being an early eMachine, I suspect it is integrated. The weird thing is that I can view other sites fine, but the text here is pale. I suppose I will just tolerate it until I get the HP back up, and then I will take this one to the lake and try to sell it to someone needing a boat anchor. When I grow up I am going to have a real computer!

Aimee, I'm trying to understand.........the posts you have visited are light green? If so, mine are too, I think that's normal.

Flo, all of the text is pale green. Not the links, the body itself. I don't remember what it was before, but it was more distinct, sharper. The eBeast isn't old enough in terms of hours of usage to justify anything being worn out, but since when did it justify anything??? It seems to have cleared up a little today, after a call to my ISP when I was insulted by a little shavetail wantabe geek. He actually challenged my decision to use Netscape!!!! Almost demanded to know a reason!!!!! ("Because I said so, son!")

And the newest events in the world of e-weird: the type is it's old grey or black again, don't really know when or why it changed. But several days ago, the little lines or boxes in between the forums left. If I use IE, they are there, but not on NS. It looks downright odd to see this page without any lines to separate anything. No shadings or variations between posts, no little boxes for forums. I think NS is trying to force me to give in and upgrade to their newer browsers. Before you laugh, let me tell you that is exactly what happened a few years ago. I lost the ability to browse, and when I sent an e-mail about 20 times, I finally got some semblance of a reply, telling me I must download a newer browser. I did, and it cleared everything up. That was when NS 4 began. I like this one, 4.7, and would just as soon keep it. I don't like this perpetual need to change, and I resent it being forced upon me. I also drive my cars until they collapse.

Poor Aimee :) It sounds like you've had your fair share of 'puter problems lately! (For your peace of mind, you might try thinking of browser upgrades as just getting new tires for your car, not a whole new car, LOL.)

Vols, I just don't like the newer browsers! But I am thinking of "downgrading", so to speak. I have downloaded one, but haven't installed it yet. The eMachine isn't friendly to such bizarre notions as independence of thought. They loaded it with IE, and they think I should just accept that. Actually, this thing of missing boxes is more a curiosity than a problem, I'm puzzled as to how it happens. No more green type, but no lines and boxes? Eerie, a self-directed puter.
