Question about population

Is the population listed on the web page the number of folks who have paid to join the forums, or the number of people who are taking advantage of all the free stuff such as journals but don't have access to the forums?

Yes. :) Actually, it's the total number of members, including those who have subscribed. You can check the member lists to see who has subscribed.

That's right, copperbaron. The vast majority of members on DG use the site for journaling and tradelist management. Additionally, a lot of members sign up to the Plants Database or the Garden Watchdog, and they rarely step over to DG.

All features of DG are free of charge, except for the forums, so there's a lot of stuff here for non-subscribers.

Without checking for sure, I think we're about 10% subscribed and 90% non-paying members, which ain't bad.

So, we have about 600 subscribers to the forums as opposed to > 6000. This is still a pretty small family.

After a while you get to know everyone that pops in on a regular basis. You get to knw their like and dislikes, disposition, temperment etc. It is like a family. It is a great family to be a part of.
I've met the nicest people here, i'd hate to think of not having this site, couldnt imagine it really.
