need translation help

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Have these seeds, but I think they're in another language. They are anthirrium majus. Did a web search and only one site has this www.mormorsvaxter.o.se/annuelle.htm. What language or country is that from?? Here's all I can find on the web. LEJONGAP
Det finns både höga och låga Lejongap, dessutom i många färger. Tar man bort avblommade stjälkar får man ofta en efterblomning.

thanks, hope that comes out right.

actually louisa, I took the spelling right off the pack, but since the only spelling I can find on the web is the link above, I don't know if that's the same thing or not! What do snapdragon seeds look like? Since the second word is the same, I'm assuming it was either a misspelling or another language. About all I can do, right???

Snapdragon seeds are tiny,black round seeds(like bb's)

these are too, so I'm going to follow the directions for snapdragons (which I dearly love) and see what happens:) thanks y'all.

The .se is a Swedish domain. It probably is a botanical name, perhaps misspelled on the package? The Neither the Latin to English nor Swedish to English dictionaries I checked online list either word: anthirrium majus. I suppose Majus might be Major, so they might be the tall strain of a given species?

Here's some images of Antirrhinum majus seeds:

And if you want to see something *really* weird, look at these faces on the seedpods: http://www.forteantimes.com/gallery/seedface.shtml

that's got to be what these are, thanks!! I love the 'face' link!!!

I hope these are perennial tig - I just love them!! Although the annuals do self sow!! Have fun!!

Tig sounds like its just a misspelling as everyone else has said.

Baa's terrible latin again (can't resist having a go) majus - means larger although larger than what I don't know. Rhinum - means nose and anti - means like so I'm assuming it means - like a nose or noselike, sounds strange either way doesn't it. I prefer Snapdragon myself LOL

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Isn't anti "against"? Like antidepressant? Hmmmm...Anti-nose. That would be stinky, LOL!

tiG!

There is both tall and short snapdragons, also in many colours. Pick the old flowers and seedpods away, and they bloom longer.

GW

Anti- is Latinised Greek one of the senses (not a literal translation) of the word is like (alike), literal translations are; opposite, over, against (as you said), before, instead of, for
