Have you noticed?????

Wow, have you guy's noticed that January 2002 has been a record setting month for DavesGarden???? As of right now there are 684 new members this month, the highest before was July of 01 with 585!
At this rate with still half the month left we could hit the 1000 mark!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't that be wild???

Sue, a few days ago I had noticed we were almost at our record highest point, but I didn't see us actually surpass it. Wow! If my math is correct, we've added an average of 42 new members every day this month. If we could keep up that pace, we would indeed add more than 1,000 members this month. I remember wayyyyy back, when getting to 1,000 members in total was a very big milestone for Dave's Garden.

Congrats to Dave and Trish, and thanks for creating such a great place for us all to garden together.

I'm a little nervous about this fantastic growth. Like a small business, it could change when it becomes very much larger. Please, someone tell me it will stay like it was when there were "only" 1000 members!

IMO, Dave's Garden has a unique sense of community that isn't likely to change anytime soon :)

Don't worry Aimee, when I joined there were only a little over 300 members! DG has only changed for the better since then!!!!!!

Yep, I remember when our first 200 members were nervous about growth. We actually had lots of discussions about it. It turns out that at 6,000 members, I think our community is just as nice and friendly as ever!

I second that Dave.

Dave, I know this is a big responsibility, but I truly believe it is largely because of your attitude that DG has remained so comfortable. You are a real live gardener, and you take a hands on approach, you are one of us and here, it seems, constantly. If it gets so big that you have to hire outsiders, DON'T!

Aimee,

It's not just Trish and I anymore. A few weeks ago, go_vols joined us as an official member of the DG team. So we are now three people, and Vols has been a tremendous addition to the DG family.

With Vols' help, we have all bases covered and are doing great. I'll take a moment here to publically say thanks to vols for coming in and helping us manage this site. She has access to almost all the administrative function of DG and is helping members who need help. Additionally, as has been the case for a long time, she is in almost complete control of the Plants Database and the Garden Watchdog. Thanks, Vols!!!

Lucky you, Dave! But I don't mean like that, I think she was always just family. It's real outsiders that would worry me. Vols has the DG spirit, so that's only going to make it better to have her hand involved. It still must keep the three of you mighty busy. My thanks to all of you.

I am delighted to hear that Go_Vols is a member of the team. You could have searched the world over and not have come up with a better partner than Go_Vols. She is an awesome lady.

Thanks, ya'll! It's a great team to be part of, and a wonderful site to help out with. (And it's not like I wouldn't be here anyway, LOL!)
