Poppysue, my question is: how did you get your keyboard to print that sign? It's not on my keyboard.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

GrannyLois, I wondered the same thing, maybe it's in the character map. I will check and be right back.

OK, go to accessories, system tools, and find character map. It will be in there, just look until you find it. Select it, and look down to the right of the box for the keystrokes to produce it. If I were you, I would put a character map shortcut on the desktop or in the start listing to be able to find these types of symbols fast. I never can recall degrees and such without checking. My é for my name is the only thing I can remember from this.

actually GL ... I copied and pasted it! There's some keyboard short cuts for a lot of those symbols - Hold the "alt" key down and play with the number pad.

º = alt + 167
Ü = alt + 154
½ = alt + 171
¼ = alt + 172
¢ = alt + 155

You can find a bunch more just playing with the number combos. I spose looking up the keystrokes like Aimee suggest would make it easier.

Lookie what I found! http://www.kelseypub.com/irc/charmap.shtml It's a BIG chart that shows lots more. Isn't it cool to be able to spice up your posts with these? Easier to get across just what you want to say.

I'm going to go play with my keyboard now... ž ™ ¤ § » © ÷ # á ;-)

On my keyboard the Euro sign is Alt Gr 4.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Poppysue, that symbol is also used for the Italian Lira, and the turkish Lira as well as the british pound.
It used to be anyway, when I was growing up.
things have changed so much in the world, even the monetary world....

Just to give you a funny example of currency fluctuations

When I was growing up the exchange rate was 1 dollar to 10 turkish lira. This was stable for years, then went up to 12, 13, 14 and finally in 76 when we left it was 15 lira to a dollar. bread was 1 lira, a bus ride was 50 kurus (or half a lira)
today it is 1.4 million Turkish lira to a dollar
bread is 100,000 lira

is this crazy or what, we used to have fun with the Italian Lira, everything was in the thousands at the time there, look at us now, we are the laughing stock - lol

Poppy do you know how much a pound is in US dollars? I have always wondered.

Windsuffer depends on the day but the usual average calculation is $1.40 to £1.00 sterling

If you oppen your character map and click on one of the symbols you will see down in the right hand corner that all the symbols have a key sequence to them. I have to use this at work all the time.

(Zone 5a)

At the risk of sounding dumb...where is your character map?
