Almost 6000!!!!

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

Last time, I went to work and came home and we had reached the 5000 mark with out any celebration! So I wanted to start this thread to say look how close we are and start parting now folks cause we will be at 6000 REAL SOON!!!!!!!!

We had 100 new members a couple days ago, and yesterday was at least 30. We should reach 6,000 within the next 24 hours!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Not only that, but we've already had way more than 500 sign up so far this month. Our record month was July 2001, with 585, and I suspect we'll easily beat the old record this month.

And...I've also noticed we've gotten several new subscribers over the past week or so, which is even nicer (more subscribers = more active forums AND support for future site enhancements.)

Hopefully the newcomers will introduce themselves and dive right in, but if you find one that hasn't, let's take a minute to send them an e-mail or post a thread in the Welcome Mat to let them know we are glad they're here.

I was off a day and a half or so, and came back to find the place was buzzing! Dave, you foxy little guy, you must be doing lots of things just right. Being my usual self, though, I have to add, you sure must have a great wife, because we all know who is behind the successful man. Oh, and Granny Lois started it all. What a team!

6,104 and it still keeps growing. Wow - where are all these new folks coming from? Do ya have stats, Dave? It'd be interesting to see what websites they came from, whether from searches or links on sites, that kind of stuff.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

I have Nedstat counters in my pages.. I can see which country they come from, what time, what browser etc they're using, via which keyowrd/link.. ;)

I was wondering if maybe someone mentioned DG in a newsletter or something. One mention sent to a large list could result in a large volume of hits - and lots of new members. I'm just curious where they're all coming from - it's cool! :o)

Evert, sounds like a project for you.

It's definitely a variety of factors, but a huge factor here is the mention (By Paul R.) in the Organic Gardening almanac newsletter, which has 30,000 subscribers.

I believe that this mention, as well as the general season (gardening on my mind syndrome), and some other smaller factors are all contributing to the explosion of DG this month.

Remember - last January was our biggest month BY FAR, as well. Remember that?

Oh, yeah...That's right! Well, this is just so cool, however it happens. :o) I wrote to a gal who keeps a blog (weblog - an online journal) and has a neat gardening section. I told her about DG and invited her to check us out. I bet Evert's mention in the magazine article will garner some hits, too. How exciting!
